Thanks digi2ap.

I have absolutely no idea what to make of that information. Two "sources".

Source 1: "SIGMA fp L use a special pixel type effective 60.75 megapixels sensor named IMX513BQR from sony-semiconductor to replace the unstable Foveon X3 sensor."

Wow! I have heard many derogatory descriptions of the Foveon X3 sensor, but never "unstable". I guess that means it might explode at any moment... Thank god they're not going to continue with it.

Source 2: "The newly CMOS sensor of sigma fp L has a CFA like the fujifilm’s Super CCD."

A "newly CMOS sensor"! Gasp-O-Matic!

Maybe we'll get some coherent information from a non-rumours source soon.

I really didn't get the feeling that Sigma was completely abandoning the Foveon basic design from Mr Yamaki's last video. Or did I miss something?

It may be that Sigma's new fp L is heading in the cinema-only direction and the next gen Foveon is still on the drawing board.

A quick search revealed this info.

And I've never heard of a Foveon sensor that looks like this.

Fuji do like experimenting with sensors.  The superCCD did use a rotated array. Then there was the clever EXR.

True.

The original experiments with SuperCCD were aimed at not only reducing moiré but also increasing DR. That's why they were popular with wedding photographers.

The superCCD in my S5pro has both the rotated pixel array (useful for boosting vertical and horizontal resolution at the expense of diagonal resolution) and the second set of miniature pixels to add 2 stops of dynamic range. The result is a CCD that even today challenges the DR of the best CMOS sensors.  It also doesn't suffer from moire because it has an almighty heavy AA filter that removes all the sharpness!

One indicator for a new fp camera could be, that a "SIGMA fp cashback campaign" is introduced from 26.March to 26.May (in Japan)

https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=ja&tl=en&u=https://www.sigma-global.com/jp/news/2021/03/10/13803/

20.000 Yen for the body and 30.000 Yen for the Standard Kit

41mm,

So about €230.00 off the Standard Kit.

When I went there, a Google pop-up re: cookies appeared, obscuring the translation.

I'm on Windows 7 and I use FireFox. I right-clicked on the pop-up, hoping to see a 'delete' or a 'close' option. None such, so I selected the 'Inspect Element' option ** and in that pop-up, I right-clicked 'Delete Node' and away went the Google irritation which allow me to read at my leisure. Pure magic. Being a pedant, I use 'Inspect Element' quite a lot.

** It might be an add-on or part of an add-on. In your FireFox, it may not be an option.

Don't forget the "reader" mode, that is good at getting rid of website popups.

I never knew what that was, duh.

It can be customized further, too:

I am surprised that no one has been suggesting musical terms starting with the letter "L". Maybe Lyric? Or Larghetto?

Maybe it's L for L mount and they are also planning an fp E.

Thought: What if it is simply a package/kit that includes a grip and the new EVF. Making it a L package.

I think with the camera registration it hints at a new model. Without any mention of any type of grip accessory it makes me feel the grip is integrated or it is compatible with the existing fp grips.

41mm,

"The Japanese price of the Sigma fp L camera with the EVF-11 viewfinder should be 75,000 yen + tax (via Nokishita)."

75000 JPY in EUR = € 575.2500 , is that likely.?

Or 494.40 Pound sterling.

That seems too low for even a minimal FF camera. You can get the Sony A6000 APS-C camera for that price.

Don't trust rumors.

It's the price for the external evf only. Price is higher than I was guessing, but possible for a quality evf. I suspect the camera body itself is similar if not more than the current fp.
