Canon EOS R with the EF adapter limited autofocus area?

Hi,

so i have this weird problem with my Canon EOS R ( 1.8 Firmware) and a few lenses that i use with the EF adapter.

- my tamron 24-70 g2 has a bigger autofocus area ( white borders ) then my tamron 35mm 1.4 and my canon stm 50mm 1.8.

The weird thing is that i had a eos r and the tamron 35mm 1.4 a few months ago to test. and the AF area was definitly as big as with the tamron 24-70 g2 and not smaller like on my own camera and lens right now. You can find the images attached to get an better undertanding of what i mean.

this is the af area with the tamron 24-70 ( as it should be )

and this is the limited af area i get when attaching the tamron 35mm 1.4 and stm 50mm 1.8

This has nothing to do with the adapter. It is the lens. The AF area available depends on the lens. Some lenses feature reduced AF areas. From the lenses I own both Sigmas, (24/1.4 Art and 12-24 Mark II), and the EF 8-15L Fisheye behave that way. All other Canon EF lenses I own support full AF area. You find that with some RF lenses as well namely the RF 600/11 and RF 800/11.
