Seeing that this 32 mm lens is universally so highly regarded, I went to buy one yesterday. Man it is really a fantastic lens!!

A must have lens !!!!!

I’m kind of old-fashioned and still use Servo with Spot AF for most everything,

(snip)

ps. For action shooting, be sure to keep your shutter speed up. Don’t be afraid to shoot wide open. The M6ii’s AF is definitely up to task.

Not sure if the AF of the M6mkII is as good in subject tracking mode for action compared to doing things in "your" "old fashioned way."

Right. I've found the standard Spot AF to be uncannily good. Close to 100% keeper rates at times. The "Tracking" AF (including Eye Detect) needs a bit more to chew on, and works best when you can fill the frame as much as possible.

This is the case on even the R5, though the R5 is certainly more adept.

Hm.

I might rent one.

I'm willing to pay 4500 euro to get in heaven, however, it should be heaven and nothing less really at that price.

+1.  R5 had better bring to mind "Amazing Grace,"

IMHO the R5 (like the M6ii) is still a work in progress as far as Eye AF is concerned.  At some times it is so brilliant that it completely blows your mind, but other times it inexplicably fails, even within a space of seconds.

I think the hardware is capable, but the AF algorithms (firmware) still needs developing.  I'm optimistic that we'll see new firmware updates in the years to come (the last one made significant progress).  This technology is basically still in its infancy, and I'm sure future cameras will only improve on the R5/R6.

Whether or not the current performance is up to your requirements only you would be able to tell.  And truly, it takes a LONG time to work through all of the AF options to find the most workable solution for what you're shooting (at the moment).  Prepare to spend a LOT of time figuring this part out!

Holler if you need any other (of my) impressions.  Best done in the "other" forum tho.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bracketing

with exposure bracketing, I set the the initial exposure point and delta, ( for example start at +0 exposure, and use 1/2 increments )

When I press the button the camera then takes 7 shots at 0.0, +0.5, +1.0, +1.5, -0.5,-1.0 and -1.5 exposure

Its great for HDR, but also useful for situations when you are unsure what the best exposure might be. And since the camera is fast and the memory card huge - there is little downside to take 7 shots instead of 1

ps. Adobe Lightroom even has the ability to 'stack' all 7 photos together.
