Fujifilm X Webcam Video Lag

I'm just beginning to mess around with the Fujifilm X Webcam software.

Started with my X-Pro 2 and that seemed to work well. The only issue is that the camera doesn't support power from USB, and so it's not entirely reliable.

Hooked up my X-Pro 3, but I'm getting fairly significant lag/delay in the video feed, and haven't been able to solve it. To be clear, I did not have this issue with the X-Pro 2.

I've tried a few different USB cables, including my Tether Tools cable that I use for tethered capture. I've tried running the camera through a powered USB hub, as well as directly into the Macbook Pro.

Can anyone offer some insight?

I have an X-T4 and it works fine as long as :

1) Follow Fuji's directions for the setup (key ones are AF-S focus, Pre-AF ON and PC Auto tether connection)

2) Make sure you're settings generate a shutter speed faster than 1/48-1/60. In more than one case, I forget to change my prior photo settings (typically ISO: 160 and f/5.6+) resulting in shutter speeds like 1/4" - which makes the video jerky.

Thanks. I've tried opening things up to ensure the shutter speed is solid, and even so, still getting a bizarre amount of lag on the X-Pro 3 as compared to the X-Pro 2. Not sure what else to do.

I had the same problem with my X-pro3, and may have just found a solution.

Turn the camera off. Connect the camera and PC with USB. OPEN BACK LCD PANEL. Turn on the camera.

Or, connecting the USB while camera on and BACK LCD PANEL OPEN.

I was surprised to find the back panel is anything to do with video framerate, but it is true, at least for my setup.  Give it a try and I hope it works for you and others who have the same issue.

I have been messing with my fuji xt-4 as a webcam using Fuji x webcam and it works fine but every few minutes it starts lagging. It goes back to normal if I half press the shutter but after a few minutes it does it again. Wondering if anyone knows how to fix this issue? Thanks

I suffered though trying to get my X-T2 to work as a webcam using Fuji’s abysmal software for way too long before discovering the existence of cheap “HDMI capture” devices on Amazon. You can get one that goes from the tiny HDMI port in the side of the camera to a computer usb-c or HDMI input for under $20. I recommend it for anyone struggling with the X Webcam software.

Fuji support replied to me that with X-Pro3 and X webcam, connect the camera and PC while back LCD open, to avoid laggy video.
