Swallow-tail Butterfly

Kathleen and I were at Hudson Gardens to shoot flowers and bees, when this swallow-tail butterfly flew up to this high flower and starting to eat.  I had the SD1 Merrill and the 105 mm  OS Macro lens and started to shoot away.  the critter worked his way around the flower and gave me these three shots against a blue sky!

Enjoy!

Thanks Vitee:  You are right about the gift.  The image below shows where the little bugger was before he decided to fly up to give me the gift

Thank you mr. butterfly!

Terrific shots.

Hi Larry.

I was looking for photos from a 105mm macro OS lens and I found these nice photos of you with a butterfly. You are both candidates for the oscar statue - a butterfly in front of the camera and you behind the camera, the butterfly showed off from all sides, he knew it was being filmed by a camera! I suspect you both have agreed in advance!

Thanks for the comments Peter:  somedays we are lucky to be at the right place and right time.  This was one of those occasions for me.  I have lots of other butterfly shots where they were not a cooperative!
