I purchased my A7C w/FE 28-60mm f/3.5-5.6 and have been happy with the light weight (167g), compact lens. Sure I would have liked 24mm-70mm and constant wider aperture but the trade off would be a heavier lens (with my A7C I prefer light weight).

So far I am pleased with the image quality from this compact lens. How do others feel about the kit lens?

Below is the MTF chart which I think looks decent for a low cost kit lens:

I think it's an amazing lens for the size and weight and really makes the A7C a carry everywhere camera. I have the Fuji 18-55 f2.8-4 and imo the Sony is just as sharp if not sharper, but much smaller and lighter.

I would appreciate it if you would share some images with this combo William. I'd like to pick up an A7c at some point. Initially I wasn't interested in the new kit lens, but the early feedback has been very positive.

A couple very casual shots w/o any setup (handheld and definitely does not show off the lens capabilities or IQ). Images taken at 28mm, f/4.0 in my basement (lowlight). I am looking forward to getting outside to take some images in good weather (right now only 20° F outside and lots of snow).

Well, I went out in the cold and grabbed a few shots.  This combo is fun and a pleasure to use (total weight 676g.

Very nice!

must admit, I am tempted to get one to put on an A1 just to annoy people :-). I bought a Canon 40mm pancake lens (f/2.8) and put it on a 5Ds for the same reason. It freaks out purists, which is a giggle.

Thanks for comment.

Well, I got this lens because the MTF looked good, light weight and low cost (all that works for me).

Yep, the purist can complain about the whisper noise and focus that is slower than lenses that are five times the cost and three times as heavy.

It’s not exactly cheap when bought by itself, though. Hmm, I wonder if it’s available as a kit lens with the A1?

I use the Voigtlander 50mm f/2 a lot (it is a superb lens on the A7R4), partly because it’s so light and fairly small (admittedly, I think it’s double the weight of this lens).

I will see what this one looks like in the store. Might find one going a bit cheap from someone breaking up a kit bundle.

That's what I did. Got one last month for $325 (from someone on Fred Miranda's B&S board). Amazing little lens.
