Too good to be true-Fully decoded LP-E17s?

Hi everyone,

over here new LP-E17s were offered; claiming to be fully decoded. Brand is Patona, price is ~ 22-25 Euros.

I wonder why they mention compatibility with EOS 750D, EOS 760D, EOS 800D, 200D.. but they do not mention the M-Series?

I have some 3rd-party LP-E17s for my M3, different brands. One got potbellied (Ayex); all others work but show similiar problem: camera shuts off even if batteries have 40 or 50 % load left.

regards!

I wouldn’t waste time going SUPER-cheap.

If you have the Beston brand available, they’ve been working great for me (they’re chipped).

$22 for 2 batts plus a USB charger...

Beston kit

R2

ps. IIRC another member has recommended Jupio products in the past (but I’ve never personally used them)

I bought once an E12 from Patona for the M10 (sadly enough the shutter failed after 27.000 shots, but maybe Canon didn't expect someone would make so many photos in 2 years, an unknown factor for the M6II...) and afterwards M100.

Far less than OEM's.

I am a cheapskate (refill my printers...) but I don't skimp on camera batteries.

That's interesting.  I buy OEM print cartridges, since third party inks have terrible longevity, and buy third party batteries, since their only limitations are shorter life, different charger, and sometimes, no in camera battery readings.  The last is easily fixed with a spare.  I can buy 3 third party batteries for the cost of one Canon.  What's not to like.

FYI, I've been doing this for about 15 years with never a problem.

I found it on amazon and it cost 80euros,meaning double of the original Canon.

Is there something I miss? The capacity is almost the same. 🤔

I think they are all sold out, even on the website .

Any feedback about this full decode patona? I have some old patonas and found they are good, so interested in knowing more about this one.

There is also the full decode vhbw battery, never tried but it's a brand with good reputation.

I haven't tried the one mentioned here, but a few weeks ago I bought a power2000 "fully decided" battery. So far so good. Works in the official charger and will charge through USB in the M6 Mark II. Though it doesn't seem as exact with showing it's power level in the camera compared to an official battery.

I've never put much reliance on the battery indicator other than full or not.  It's so easy to carry a spare.
