Focus Peaking X-H1

I was happily using my X-H1 on a tripod with a manual lens and focus peaking was working great. I then moved backwards a bit and tried focusing again but the peaking had stopped. The focus on the rear screen was also very jerky. Any ideas. I hadn’t changed anything and double checked peaking was still turned on. It must be me but what have I done?

"Jerky?" Sounds like it is not in Boost Mode, or it's going to "sleep".

It is in Boost Mode but does it need to be anyway?

I went back to it and made some changes on the lens and peaking came back. Not sure why this should happen as it’s a Pentax fit Tamron 90mm Macro I was using with an adapter. I’m pretty sure I’ve had peaking stop before at one point.

These kinds of things can happen with this electronic gear just switch oFF then on that should cure if not remove battery

I have no issue with mine whatever is the lens fitted on the body.

Yes I tried the turn it off and back on trick but it didn’t make a difference. Next time though I’ll try and remember the battery, thanks.

Did you accidentally turn the frontal lever back to Autofocus?

No, it was on manual all the time.

I don't think you've done anything wrong, William.

I have the same issues with the X-H1. It seems to reset itself if you change the focusing peaking mode. I find it quite annoying but not terminal.

Yes, you could be right. It is irritating that something works as expected one moment then for seemingly no reason stops working. There may be some logic to the programming but in practice it’s not so good.

What happens to me all the time on my X-H1, is that the "focus assist" method reverts to "STD" and I have to set it back to "Focus peaking".

Sounds like that's not what happened to you though.

Does everyone with this issue have the latest firmware?

Yes, as far as I know. I didn’t update it that long ago, and the lens.

Re: Focus Peaking X-H1

It seems to be a power-saving feature. Half-pressing the shutter should wake it back up:

Thanks for that. I’ll check if power save is turned on.
