DA*300 as portrait lens

You don't think of the DA*300 as a portrait lens, but then you don't think of images of birds as portraits either.

I love the bokeh at this aperture.

From today's backyard shoot.

Enjoy

Left side: The Northern Mockingbird is sitting between two trees (one in front, one in back) and the DA*300 does the rest.

Best at 'original size'.

beautiful colors and bokeh and good sharpness, I like those very much.

Regarging the processing I prefer the second one, there's a tad too much of sharpening in the first one.

Dan

I agree! It's not sharpening (almost none) per se but levels that I tweaked a bit too much.  Thanks for the comment.

300 2.8 was just about the standard for Miami Beach fashion photo shoots in the early 90s. So portraits yes.

Interesting. I was unaware. I do like the optical characteristics of the 300mm and it's ability to make the background/foreground disappear in a pleasing manner.

Thanks.
