SD14 enlargment print with Topaz Gigapixel
13

Hello,

as I wanted some color in my living room I used Topaz Gigapixel to enlarge an SD14 picture and had a large print made.

The print is 170x113 cm (69"x44") quite large.

The scene is from Phuket, you see Karon beach and the small Kata island in the background.
I choose this picture as it has large amount of blue and green and as it was my view from our room for 2 months.

Very happy with the effect and the picture stands up to scrutiny up to 20-30 cm from the print.

I bought topaz gigapixel ai recently.  I have only used it for limited comparisons.  I have Photozoom also.  From comparisons to Photozoom,  I would use it for any super-large prints - above 20-30 or 32x48.    My  32x48 with phtozoom (pre-Topaz) - look terrific from sharpness and detail.  My 84-year old father-in-law was down on the floor with a magnifying glass  he was so impressed.  Next time I do some 20x30's or 32x48's  I will try comparing the two.

Thanks for the post.

Beautiful looking photo.  Ill have to revisit some of my SD14 photos to see what might be worth printing at this size.  How did you have it printed?  Joe

From what I've seen as I've been looking at that type of software, is one has to go easy or it looks like a google blur when you zoom too close to the ground. Goog now does that purposely.

Won't pass judgement until I tried it though. Their hype advertising looked a little cheesy however. But if you've got a clean image, it probably is the way to go to retain detail, as you're not trying to correct anything.

But I do believe that technology to do this has improved greatly. Interestingly, you can do some nice bokeh going to the extreme effects.

I went to a professional shop and had it printed non-reflective on a synthetic carrier with a thickness of 4mm (0.16") and aluminum beams.

They used a kind of UV resistant colors.

When viewed up close one can definitely see artifacts, no surprise considering the size of the enlargement -170x113 cm (69"x44") from a 2640 x 1760 picture.

Below you can see some close-ups, with reference to the full picture in the first post.

Best regards ... jef
