M100 grip

Another question if I may. This camera is difficult to hold. Does anyone use an adhesive grip similar to those used for the rx100 on this camera?

I want to keep the bulk down so didn't want a large screw on grip..

I considered it, but bought a wrist strap instead, which does the same thing for me.

That's great i think I'll try that

If it works I might sell them as special limited edition grips for Leica cameras for about £35 a set. I'll make a fortune!

FWIW, I considered the M200 for a while as a travel option. I knew that I wouldn’t like it without a grip after holding one in a store, so I did a little research. I stumbled across the adhesive grip for the small Sonys, and printed a photo of the grip to exact scale. I cut it out and overlaid it on an exact scale frontal view of the camera and it seemed to be a good fit.

As I recall it was fairly inexpensive and was resolved to give it a try if I bought the camera.

In the end I wound up with the M6II, but the M100/200s still appeal to me and I may pick up one anyway.

The only thing I obviously couldn’t test was the curvature of the camera body at the side and if that might affect the fit. Again, FWIW.

there is also things like this, and chinese-knockoffs, that may be even better (lower price and no screw at the bottom)

I designed and 3D printed a small stick on grip for mine (similar to the ones from Flipbac), if you have access to a printer I can send you the CAD model if you'd like.

I just Googled "Canon M100 grip" and it looks like there are a lot of options in a variety of sizes and form factors.

Re: M100 grip

thanks all.

ive found the blue version of this on ebay for £4 so figured i couldn't go too wrong with this even if they're not the most attractive.. can't for the life of me work out why they wouldn't have it in black to match the actual camera..

ill keep my eye out for the g3-e3 if i can get it cheap.  i thought it was only sony that conned the rx100 owners with their expensive grips!

Re: M100 grip

I posted this in a similar thread:

For me the Flipbac fit on the camera fine but my fingers felt crowded between the lens and the grip. I ended up taking it off.

I've found this rubberized grip to feel really good, it's minimal enough to fit under cases, adheres strongly, and you can cut to fit and place wherever needed: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FLQO5IU/

I've also used the ebay silicone skin grip which offers some protection along with grip but is a bit.. janky/floppy but it's not bad and easily removed: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Silicone-Rubber-Bag-Body-Cover-Case-Skin-For-Canon-Eos-M100-Camera/333247888901

Finally, I've tried the official Canon face jacket which adds decent shape but is a bit plasticy and dry feeling (I tried the yellow one, leather ones are probably better). They're a bit pricey and block the tripod screw, but they are a good fit and remove easily: https://shop.usa.canon.com/shop/en/catalog/camera-face-jacket-eh-fj-border-yellow#

Re: M100 grip

I've taken a risk on bought the canon grip for the m10 for a few pounds on ebay. Hopefully it'll fit.

Thanks for the advice. Lots of very helpful people on here

I know what you mean about the RX100. It’s such a slippery little fish! But the little rubber stick-on grip absolutely transforms the camera’s handling (without adding to the camera’s overall size) . You can one-hand the RX100 now with ease (I have the Mark II).

Something similar would be great for the M100. Heck, for $15 the AGR2 might be worth a try on the M!

R2

ps. If you do get a grip that screws into the tripod mount, be sure not to over-tighten it (the M Series’ bottom plates are not metal and can crack).

pps. Just saw the Flipbac grip that was posted, and that one looks like a good fit.  Hopefully the adhesive is excellent.

I too find my M200 a bit difficult to hold. So I bought a Flipbac G4 camera grip to stick on the M200. I feel that it is quite good, more confident of holding the camera with one hand now.

Thanks for that. I think we have a winner! Saved it in my wish list.

Re: M100 grip

Is it safe to use grips like this, I mean if I want to remove it - will it be easy enough removal or some glue will still stay on the surface?

You are welcome. But do take note that one of the members has also mentioned that space between the lens and grip is too cramped for the fingers. For my case, I am quite comfortable with the G4 camera grip. But if your fingers are big, you might want to consider other model (Flipbac G1, G2 or G3).

It is stick on using double-sided adhesive tape. So far, the adhesive tape seems quite strong and the grip has not drop out before.

But I have not tried to remove the grip before, so I am not too sure whether it is easy to remove.
