Canon ef 50mm on m100

Hi All

I recently bought an adapter so that I could use the canon 50mm f1.8 stm lens on it.

I didn't think my eye was trained to pick up the difference in bokeh but I really don't like it on this lens! Looks jagged rather than smooth and distracting.

I'm presuming that the ef 50mm f1.4 also works on the m100.

Does anyone know of this has better bokeh? (I'm making an assumption that using an adapter won't affect the lens quality).

Thanks

The Sigma 56 is wonderful on the M Series...

Thanks for confusing me even more

I may buy this but as I have the adapter and the 50mm 1.4 is half the price that's what's tempting me but I saw a review which compared lenses suggesting the f1.4 wasn't much better

The EF 50mm f/1.4 will work just fine on your M100.

The bokeh of the EF f/1.4 is a bit better than any of the EF f/1.8 versions, but all of these SLR lenses pale in comparison to the Sigma 56mm f/1.4.  Seriously, just get the Sigma.

If you need a cheaper solution, the other lens to consider is the Viltrox 56mm f/1.4.    The Viltrox is a step behind the Sigma, but still miles ahead of the Canon EF alternatives.

If you only need 50mm at f/2.8, then the Canon options will work for you.  However if you want a 50mm that you can use at f/1.4 any time you desire, then it’s definitely worth spending extra for the Sigma.  It’s sharp wide open, it’s an excellent focuser, and the IQ is marvelous.
