S5 with 24-105
5

Got the lens a few days ago but haven't been able to try it very much. I saw this woodpecker outside today and grabbed a couple of shots through the window. Here's the original and a heavy crop. I just noticed it was at f/11 and 1/20 second; if I had taken time I would have used a much lower aperture and thus a higher shutter speed. I guess it's nice to have dual IS!

You're welcome. I'm very pleased with it given the short experience so far. I would normally be shooting birds with my G9 and a long zoom but the S5 and 24-105 was sitting right there, so...

I don't know if you ever do macro, but I have found it to be a great lens for macro (even though it only does 1:2, and not 1:1 like a true macro). The fact that it has minimal focus breathing makes it real easy to stack several shots and blend them in photoshop.

It's not a smexy lens, but it sure is versatile. And the rendering is very nice.

I don't do real macros but try some closeups sometimes. As a matter of fact, the first thing I did when the 24-105 arrived last week was to take some close shots of what's left of the roses outside my door. I need to learn how to do focus bracketing on the S5; my efforts so far haven't been very good. These are just single shots. You're right, a nice versatile lens.

Lovely shots. Very creamy backgrounds.

Yes, it was the first photo with the new lens... and it just shows that the AF is to slow for a puppy trying to sniff the new lens :).

lol, yes it did fail the sniff test.

I did confirm that the Sigma 105mm f/2.8 lens does work with the new Sigma TC-1411 to give me a 147mm f/4.  I need to get out during the day time to test this setup a little more.
