Can a camera grow myopic?

I bought a T3i in 2013, and with the kit lens, 18-55, also bought other lenses - Canon 1.4 50mm and a 55-250. I was delighted with this stuff, the sharpness of the 50mm pleased me a lot, and the kit lens plus the 55-250, while not on a par with the 50mm, were very good.

Time went by, as Sam sung in Casablanca. Other cameras came and put the T3i in semi-retirement. It, and the lenses, were well cared and stored. After about 5 years, I grabed the T3i just to find out that the sharpness that delighted me was gone with the years. None of the camere-lens combination  was what used to be. Pictures are not truely unsharp, but not what they 5+ years ago.

Gremlins aside, what could have happened?

Dum senesco, addisco.

Re: Can a camera grow myopic?

I have never heard of a camera failing like that.  I think the best thing to do, would be to take pictures with it with other cameras and compare the images.  Create them with the same conditions and view them on the same monitor etc.
