Happy New Year!

Wrote a quick review about Samsung NX1, based on using NX1 for 2-3 years now. With some photos also added - all made with NX1 bodies. Love the camera, even though it is history as of 2021. How nice Dpreview still has NX forum active

I hope you enjoy reading/photos.

Great write up! I only have great things to say about the NX1 and in fact any of the NX cameras and lenses.

Similar to you I started with the NX1000 too, with 20-50mm lens in early 2014 I think it was. I soon got hold of the 30mm too and was blown away by the quality.

Since then I've got more and more kit and used it all regularly. Fast forward to today and I have the NX1 and NX500 and pretty much all the lenses! I can't see myself moving systems any time soon..

Re: Samsung NX1 Review

Thank you Hannu,  I have decided to expand my NX gear and consolidate with NX1 and a few lenses. These should serve me well as I'm not made of gold. It is crazy that you can have a complete system (used prices - body plus lenses) for the same price of a modern 2018-2020 body from Sony or Fuji (most of the time also used) so the value is there.

Still, it is hard finding NX1's here in UK but I will check everyday.

Thanks Onetwoshot, are there not NX1-s available at ebay.uk.co anymore? I think I saw decent bodies there with less than 10k shutter around £800 but I have to double check.

So a quick check and found one here:

NX1 with 16-50S

They ask 1k for the camera, I think it is pretty good deal as the 16-50S is included. No information about the shutter count though. Meanwhile the body looks good at the photos.

A mint condition nx1 with the S lens in original box and plenty of freebie accessories sold for £800 a week ago. The listing price was £1200. My mistake was that I shied away from offering my max budget (850) thinking the seller won't accept it. Seller waited a long time though, about 2 months which tells you that customers are not prepared to pay a lot because some want only the body or the lens.

In deals like this the buyer should accept that they will get less (when listing with lens)

Unfortunately, for this £1000 listing, the body shows a tiny scratch, no box and no other accessories (makes me think it is 2nd or 3rd customer) , just 3 pictures and a tiny description +  no shutter information.

I have already put an offer which was ignored. I still have 2 to go, but I wouldn't offer more than £700. He will have to wait for ages if he sticks to this price.

If he splits ( body = £550) (Lens - £450) he will sell both in less than a week but he wants the same outcome from a bundle? Long burn sell

lots of used ones still available at ebay.com

New ones...once in a while they show up...usually from Asia, specifically Korea.

This camera is not going away any time soon.

Still a happy customer here! NX since NX300 a long time ago. So happy with my purchases through the years (some pro work too), I have to move to other pastures soon, but still using the cameras everyday, and I will do until they melt!

Amazing how futuristic these NXs were and how "wise" the lens system was built (small and cheap pancakes, amazing PRO lenses and almost every lens a gem compared to other systems, except maybe the 18-200 which isn't that amazing). I only missed an Ultra Wide Zoom S lens (something like a 10-22mm 2.8f) for an amazing complete system, and a longer ultra zoom (for other people that use them).

Unfortunately, in my next purchase I will need 10bit video, better low light performance (was noisy above 1600ISO for my liking) and the next tier AF performance, as Sony and Canon have gone a tier up with their recent releases. I will probably look at the RF offerings next, but still kind of amazing that NX1/NX500 stayed so close to the top after so many years, and in my opinion, still rockin at the top on some of them (still best ergonomics for both of those cameras! unbelievable in that respect, no overheating whatsoeve! amazing touch screen implemantation and OS, energy/battery management).

I will always have the "what if?" question in my mind until I cease to exist, "What if Samsung had an NX1ii, or iii, in the industry?".

I remember interviews from top Fuji management talking about how powerful the Nx cameras were, and other people in the industry, I believe somehow it moved the market a little bit (especially with smaller players Fuji, Panasonic) and if Samsung stayed in business we would have RF and Z cameras a few years earlier.

History sometimes move forward with significant "what if"s.
