Dust in DP1m - anyone had luck removing?

Hello all

I have recently purchased a DP1m and have noticed that there is a big splotch in the upper edge, about 2/5th the way along.  It shows up from about F8 onwards.  I am not sure if it is dust on the sensor or the back of the lens.  Sigma will fix it (I will have to post to Melbourne) and the cost would be around AUD$150. I contacted the dealer and they are going to have a shot at fixing it with compressed air with their in-house repairer but I don't hold much hope.  I have tried the washing machine trick and also tried my Miele vacuum cleaner to no avail.  Has anyone had any success with this type of issue?

Re: Dust in DP1m - anyone had luck removing?

ive got two bits of dust in the centre of my lens on my dp1 quattro. they werent there then all of a sudden they where.

youd think with it being a sealed camera they wouldnt be there. the only thing that happened was a few years ago it went to sigma japan to fix a lens problem. maybe they where introduced into the camera then?

anyway they dont effect the photos.

i know this doesnt answer ur question but opening it up might make things worse

Thanks Cliff, yes dust in a sealed body is something I had never considered.
