Need help for Canon 90D C.Fn II autofocus settings for birding

In Canon 90D how to setup 16 parameters in C.Fn II autofocus still confused me.

Is there a good link to learn from there to get sharp birds photos?

This is for the 80D, but the function of the settings are the same on the 90D

what lens do you use, your lens might be the culprit here!

The main settings for AI Servo are in C.Fn:Autofocus.

Let's start at #7 and work backwards.

Depending upon how steady you are, how far away the bird is and what kind of background you want to select one of the first three.

#6 I'd use 0

#4 and #5. What good is speed if you don't have focus. So go with focus on both.

#3. This is for switching between focus points. If you are using single point this does nothing. Otherwise I'd go with +2.

#2. I'd go with +2.

#1.

And the reason I left it for last. If you are in a situation where the birds are flying thru trees, etc then once focus is locked on you want to keep it. So go with -1 or -2.

If you have a nice clear sky, your birds are generally above the tree line and moving to and away a lot then you want the camera to keep refocusing the lens as the birds move. So +2 would be good.
