Proper Lens Hoods for RF 35/1.8, 50/1.8 and 85/2.0 STM Lenses

We all know its almost criminal not to provide a proper lens hood for these lenses. Similar products for Sony and Fujifilm, and possibly Nikon all come with a proper hood.

For these three lenses can anyone provide the proper models of the hoods that match each of these RF lenses? I'm sure there are third party ones and some might be very good but I am looking for ones that mount with a bayonet (if it even available) if possible. Unfortunately B&H does not list any of these as suggested accessories for these products.

I'm sure Canon is probably asking for as much or more than $40 for these. For a $500 or $600 lens that might be OK (less than 10%) but for a $200 nifty 50 it seems more than a little steep.

So if you know the proper one for each lens please help add them

  • RF 35mm f/1.8 IS Macro STM
  • RF 50mm f/1.8 STM
  • RF 85mm f/2 IS Macro STM

Thank you

The amount of time you waited for an answer, you could have did a google search and typed in "rf XXmm lens hood" and it would of shown up in a search.

Fair enough. Though I didn't see that being the question.

Only missed by one letter. That link is for an ET-65B for an EF 70-300 lens. Not the ES-65B for the RF 50f1.8.

I imagine there will be good clones after Canon gets their designs to market. The JJC for the RF24-240 seems to work well for instance.

Wait for the knock offs.

The knock offs will be around soon. I got this one for my 24-240, and it is perfect. Even has the little lock button on the side to hold it in place. Fit and finish, perfect. $15.

Canon's EW-52 is nothing but a very bad joke. I us a Chinese made rubber hood with 52 mm screw that fits the RF 35 mm perfectly. You get half a dozen of those for the prize of the EW-52. No vignetting, filters and lens cap can be used.

For the 35 I have used a B+W rubber screw on which wasn't expensive either even though its from B+W. The JCC version, designed to work like the Canon was super cheep but a strange approach to a hood as well.

Even if it "fits" (ie mounts on the lens), very likely it will not be the right size & shape for the lens.

Re: Proper Lens Hoods for RF 35/1.8, 50/1.8 and 85/2.0 STM Lenses

Believe it or not I finally had my "official" Canon hood for the RF 50mm f/1.8 show up after two months, the ES-65B. It was way over priced but I bought it anyway.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Its a bayonet type that also has a lock button and is also reversible. So quality wise it almost matches a L hood since it has the lock and is a proper size and capability.

Wish they had done something similar for the RF 35mm f/1.8 as well. For that there really is nothing good except third party screw on hoods.

JCC Hood for 85/2.0 STM In stock and fits for $13
1

I already had a JCC hood for my RF24-240 that seemed to work well.

I just received the JCC hood for the RF85F2 and it seems to fit well. It behaves just like the hood of my RF L lenses complete with the little release pin. It cost about $13 on Amazon vs. $49 for the Canon ET-77.  (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08TW99PDF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1).
