X-S10 and 35mm f2 lens makes distortion in LR

X-S10 and 35mm f2 lens makes distortion in LR

I was using my X-S10 and 35mm f2 last night and when I uploaded the photos in Lightroom (raw), i found most of them had warped from some strange lens distortion issue. I then put the 35mm f2 on my old X-T20 and took some test pics and found them all to be straight with no distortion, so i then used the 35mm f2 with the X-S10 again taking the same photos and bam the photos are warped. I then tried using my wife’s newer Lightroom to view the files but again they were warped. I also took test photos with the X-S10 using the 18-55mm at 35mm and had no distortion issues, so it’s something odd between the 35mm f2 and the X-S10 it seems.

Any one had this issue before, all advice welcome ?

You'll need to upload one so we can take a look, have you ticked lens correction in lr?

You'll need to upload one so we can take a look, have you ticked lens correction in lr?

Normally, you can not 'untick' that, i.e. lens correction for Fuji lenses is always applied in Lr [and ACR]. But a pair of brick walls would be interesting.

Sounds like lightroom hasn't updated its corrections for that camera/lens combo yet, but could be wrong.

How are the jpegs out of the camera, still distorted?

That lens is known for distortion as it isn't optically corrected.

Your version of lightroom doesn't support the X-S10. You'll need to update it if you want the lens corrections applied to RAW files.

Or, bring in the JPGs with the lens corrections already done in camera

Lens correction has no on/off switch, im pretty sure the problem is the LR lens correction itself over processing the file. Example below.

I have an older version which i own (not on subscription) so not sure if i can without buying a new version. Also i just tried the test photos on a new LR version and same issue happened?

In that case Lr would not be able to open the file and produce an error message, something like ; camera not supported

1. buy a subscription

2. use something else since I don't believe Adobe is updating non-subscriptions versions.

3. use something else if you don't want a subscription

For DLSM and compact cameras, the lens correction information is written to the RAW as metadata. The parameters of the correction data are standardized.

The RAW converter only needs to read and apply the correction parameters. The RAW converter actually no longer needs its own lens database.

I see two possible sources of error:

- when converting to DNG, the lens correction metadata is lost

- in the old Lightroom version the correction of the distortion errors by the metadata transmitted in the RAW is not yet implemented

Just updated lightroom and now can see my XS10 raw files clearly.

I Just did some more test shots using both raw (dng) + jpegs, on both the 23mm f1.4 and 35mm f2 on the X-S10. No issue with the 23mm, the 35mm again had warped dng but the jpgs look good with no warping.

when you mention warped DNG are you using IXT to process your raw files ?

If yes, it’s been noted that the Fuji 35 f/2 does have distortion and it’s recommended that you turn on lens correction as part of the IXT configuration - source: https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4455093?page=2

BTW still haven't fixed this issue, can't use this lens on the x-s 10 for raw, pretty disappointed.

The "enable profile corrections" in lightroom has been updated and fixed this issue.
