Nope, "Pairing" is still grayed out.

The only Bluetooth function I see on my phone is On or Off. However, double-tapping on "Bluetooth" then displays "Paired Devices" and in that list I see EOST7I which is the nickname for my camera.

Try changing the nickname of your camera from T7i to EOS 800D.

As I recall, the camera itself sets the nickname and shows it to you. You mean I should try changing it in the camera at that time/place?

Ok. I've disconnected and reconnected my 77d using the following process, so hopefully this will solve the problem.

1) Delete any camera Bluetooth connection on your phone in Bluetooth settings

2) Delete any camera WiFi connection in your phone WiFi settings

3) in canon connect click easy connection guide. If it lists any existing connections, click and hold these and say yes to delete this log.

This should have completely removed any existing connections on your phone. If you wish, you could also delete the app and reinstall it.

4) on the camera go into yellow settings menu page 1 and choose wireless communication settings

5) click Bluetooth function and then choose check/clear connection info (at this point pairing is grayed out.

6) any existing connection will be shown and the camera will try to connect. Instead click info and confirm clear connected devices

7) you should then be returned to the Bluetooth function menu and pairing should no longer be grayed out.

8) click pairing and then "do not display"

Now go back to your phone

9) open the canon connect app, click easy connection guide unless the app brings up the name of your camera having autodetected it

10) if it autodetects let it connect - the camera will also ask for confirmation

11) if it doesn't autodetect click connect a camera after going into easy connection guide (on the phone) then type in your camera model. You should then confirm Bluetooth connection on your phone . If this doesn't work, press the cross button and go back to the front menu of the app. You should find if you wait long enough in the app whilst the camera is in pairing mode, the phone will see the camera and flash up the connection window.

12) once connected, in the app, click the remote live view showing, follow the connection Windows on your phone and this should then connect you via WiFi to operate the camera from your phone.

There's no need to go into Bluetooth or WiFi settings to do the connection, just make sure they're all deleted to start with.

Good luck - hope this works!

Wow, that actually worked! Thanks so much. Now it quickly connects every time, and I can control the camera from my phone. It's beyond me why it took all this to get it to  work but whatever. Thanks again!

That's great. There must have been some legacy connection issue in the phone from previous attempts. Glad it's sorted!

Glad that worked.

Yesterday, I reversed the process and sent a picture from my camera to my phone. You can then attach that picture in a text message or email to anyone else in the country. That's pretty cool.

That's what I've been thinking but haven't tried yet. If you shoot RAW (which I do), I assume you 'd have to shoot RAW+JPG and then only the JPG would be sent.

As long as I open the app on my phone first, then (when instructed) turn on the camera, it connects quickly and reliably. I successfully used it to take a selfie, and auto-focus worked perfectly. I did note that there was often a lag in the image on my phone; the image didn't always move as I did and I just had to wait a bit. Anyone else noticed that?

All-in-all, I'm quite happy with it. It makes it easy for the photographer to be in the photo, whether in a group or alone. I set a two-second delay so I had time to look up after pressing the "shutter" button on the phone and that worked well.

Since I believe that most people use their phones in portrait mode, I wanted to see how well taking and sending a vertical picture would work.

It worked pretty well. It showed up nicely on my phone (although you might have to rotate it on your phone after receiving it).

Have you tried clearing check/clear connection in Bluetooth connections? This should then allow you to re-pair as pairing won't be greyed out anymore?

Thank you!  Your suggestion saved my sanity!

I've had my t7i for quite some time, and I recently got a new phone.  This isn't the first time I've had to pair a new phone with the camera to use the Camera Connect app, but I had a brain fart and forgot how to re-pair new devices.

I followed the Easy Connection Guide ... forgot I needed to pair the device ... tried to connect through both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth ... realized I needed to pair the device ... realized the pairing option was grayed out ... scratched my head a lot ... admitted I was stumped ... Googled ... wound up here.

Your suggestion helped the pairing option re-appear.

I was able to connect to the camera and download photos to my phone.

I don't know you, but I Iove you!  Thanks for making my day!

Now.  On to Lightroom!

I'm glad this worked out for everyone.

Wireless shooting can be be frustrating when it doesn't work, and a lot of fun when it does.

Ian, you were a godsend.

Re: T7I and Camera Connect - Can't get it to work

I tried more than once to use Camera Connect with my T8i, but never got it to work in a satisfactory manner. I was hoping I could simply connect via Bluetooth and use it to geotag my images. Nothing more needed, but from what I recall that's not possible. The way I read it (and saw it), I had to manually connect my phone to the camera via WiFi (or was it vice-versa?) every time I powered up the camera in order for anything to work. I also, on and off, ran into pairing issues with the camera.

Maybe someone else's memory is better than mine -- Once paired, can CC connect automatically to a T8i via Bluetooth only and be configured to geotag images on the camera when shot (without having to download them to the phone)?

In other words, I'd like to overcome the T8i's deficiency of not having a GPSR onboard... possible?

Thanks.
