Help with a K50 please

Hello and hoping someone can help with with a just purchase (online) used, but excellent condition K50. Problem 1 is the diopter is not adjusting..at all and just a fixed out of focus view. Problem 2 is I'm not seeing the green in-focus box in the vf, but when set to LV (live view) it's there. Am I overlooking something?

I'm not new to the K50 since owning one a few years ago. I contacted Pentax/Ricoh online and it shows a estimated repair cost of $202. and possibly higher. Suggestions welcome and thank you.

Do the dioptre adjustment without a lens. Concentrate on the viewfinder grid lines being in focus. Let me know if that works.

Thanks Peter. The view finder grid is not visible with or without a lens attached. When I move the adjustment bar to right or left, no change.

My advice.... return the lens to the seller.

I fail to see what the viewfinder has to do with a lens? What am I missing here?

You mean the RED dot in the viewfinder? It can be switched on/off. Search the menus. Focus confirmation.

Diopter might be broken. Take the camera apart or let some local repairshop evaluate it.

Don't send it to repair for an astronomical amount because the K50 is basically worth nothing. ~100$ max.

Yeah, it's green in LV but red in the VF. The VF one shows up when focus is achieved. The LV one shows you in which part of the image it's trying to achieve focus.
