X-T4 + 16-55 stuck with red blinking indicator light

Hopefully someone on this forum has experienced this as well. Can't find a lot of good tips about this while using Google.

I recently bought a second hand Fujifilm 16-55 f2.8 in very good condition from the camera store with 12 months warranty. I've been using the lens for a week now and I'm really happy with it on my Fuji X-T4.

I've had no problems shooting until last night all of a sudden changing shutter speed with the dials didn't work anymore, also couldn't take a picture by pressing the shutter and using the play button to view photos also didn't work. I shut the camera off and I could still see through the viewfinder. It still showed what the lens could see. I also noticed a blinking red indicator light on the back of the camera. The lens was attached good, and even after attaching and detaching the lens nothing changed. The battery also was completely charged.

I shut the camera down again. And after 10 minutes everything worked fine again and haven't encountered the same problem after that.

When searching Google I've found a website saying the red indicator means lens or memory card error. But nothing else that could helpt me. The LCD screen also didn't show a message saying lens error or anything.

Anyone any ideas? Is this perhaps the bought lens? Maybe just a one off glitch?

It MAY be a one off glitch.   Many new digital cameras I've had in the first month or two would sporadically freak out one way or another, but in the long run they've been fine.

With the info you provided, the logical first thing to do is to try to swap the card.   If it takes a minute to get one, reset the camera, reconfigure, and use it normally.    If it occurs again try to note what you were doing, the settings currently in use.

Check that your lens and body firmware are current, as well.   And avoid having the Clarity setting in-camera set to anything but zero.

Thanks for the tips. Still hasn't happened again. But will record it when it happens again.

Hi,

I was extremely frustrated by that during my first day with the camera. I seem to remember that even turning the camera off didn't work as it would start blinking again when I turned it back on.

It turned out that it was the camera trying to send the pictures to my phone.

I disabled some menu items that were related to connecting to the app and transferring photos and the problem never came back.

You might want to give it a try.
