Hopefully, Longer Than The First One!
2

It will be here sometime Wednesday. I paid less for it than the one I got last time. The one I got last time lasted....oh.....about 3 days! So maybe I will get lucky and this 2nd one will last 4 days at least. I'm keeping my fingers crossed but I'm not holding my breath.

7i #2. If it doesn't work then at least I have another strap, lens cap and AC Power Supply!

I've also got 2 new NP-400 batts coming for my A700. I might need one of those for an old Nikon 5700 on its way.

You might need a hammer to get those NP-400's into your A700 !

They'll work great in a Dynax 7d though .

Have your new NP-800 batteries arrived yet ?

Hope you have better luck with your "new" camera .

Well , it can't take up much bandwidth for DPR , so no reason to pull the plug .

I'm sure there's a lot more people searching the forum than asking a question , seeing as Minolta flogged the imaging division off in 2006 , most things have already been asked in that time .

I bought a used Dynax 7d around 2007 or 2008 as a backup to my Sony a100 , unlike the a100 , the 7d still gets used .

I started with Minolta film with a used Minolta 7000AF in the mid 90's , and I'm still using the lenses now , amongst a lot others on film SLR's and my current Sony DSLTs/SLTs , the a900 and a77ii .

.

Minolta digital , I still use the 7d and DiMage A200 , but also have the DiMage 7 , 7i , 7Hi , A1 & A2 , plus several point and shoots .

.

As long as people still use the cameras the forums still relevant .

I guess DPR knows how many viewings of the forum there is even if people don't post .

There's a few quiet forums , Kodak SLR , Kodak and Casio for example .

The Sony A mount forums a lot quieter than it used to be as well as I guess people have moved to E mount . It seems to have started to change systems since the LA-EA5 came out , with more discussion being centred around E mount cameras using A mount lenses .

I should add that I am predominantly an A mount shooter .

.

No reason to pull the plug on any forums though .

Yep, I don't have one of those but I do have an A2. I was thinking about getting an extra NP-400 for it as it has an older battery.

And why couldn't Minolta just figured a way to use an NP-400 for the A200?

Have your new NP-800 batteries arrived yet ?

They (EN-EL1)are on their way
1200mAh / 7.4v / 8.9Wh
There are 2 chargers and at least one battery coming with the Nikon 5700. If that battery is an older one then one of the EN-EL1 batts will go to it.

I really do, too. I had pretty much given up on another 7i or 7hi, but when this came along I just had to take another chance. Especially when I went back and looked at the few photos I did get to take with the other one.

I think it will be around for a while yet

I don't think it's (quite) the quietist forum on the site. The Kodak SLR forum gets about a post a week.

Even though the cameras are old, new questions are relevant: where to get parts and accessories, how a 7D compares to modern cameras, maybe some talk about the LA-EA5...

Re: I think it will be around for a while yet

As a certified Kodak collector I do my best to help keep that forum going. I have about 15 or 20 yet to test. As a matter of fact, I just picked one up a couple of hours ago at a thrift store.

The Casio forum is a little sparse. I only have one Casio model and I don't shoot it that often to post anything. Maybe if I had one of the higher end models.

There's not that many KM or Minoltas on the used market that is around my price range. I occasionally see 5D and 7D models but there usually is a bid war on those. I would like a G600 but they are not listed often.

Kodak Talk or Kodak SLR Talk? There are both. SLR is for the DCS cameras based on Canon and Nikon SLR bodies. I'd like to find one of those in a thrift store. I have seen them on Goodwill's site from time-to-time. They usually don't go cheaply.

Re: I think it will be around for a while yet

Kodak Talk, because those used DCS models are made from Unobtainium as far as my wallet goes. My Olympus E-500 is as close as I will probably ever be to a big Kodak sensor.

I wish that Kodak had put a 2/3" sensor in the P880. It would fit right in with the Nikon 8700, Minolta A2 and Olympus C-8080 models. Come to think about it, I guess the C-8080 is about as close to a Kodak 2/3" as possible.

I think a slightly bigger grip to hold the NP-400 in it would have been beneficial .

More power , better grip .

They dropped the battery pack grip of the A1 and A2 , seems a bit odd to fit a smaller battery .

Have your new NP-800 batteries arrived yet ?

50% more power ?

I'm wary of third party battery manufacturers claims of battery capacity . They would often make claims that were much higher than OEM , but failed to deliver even the equal of the OEM .

It will be interesting to see how many shots a taken from a full charge .

At least it should be just as good as the original , and hold a charge well while not in use .

There are 2 chargers and at least one battery coming with the Nikon 5700. If that battery is an older one then one of the EN-EL1 batts will go to it.

I've been after a Kodak DCS Pro 14n for quite a few years now , but at the right price .

I have a few Nikon film SLRs , so a full frame sensor to use them with would be nice . ( not necessarily E mount ) .

It would also allow me to use my Tamron adaptall as intended as well .

The Kodak still seems to be selling for about a little less than £300 , one with it's "OK" button and sold "as is / for parts " is asking £225 , and a beat it copy held together with duck tape is £150 !

.

On the other hand , fairly high mileage Nikon d700's are selling for about £200 , so I might end up getting one of them to play with .

I'm keeping my eye open for a slightly lower shutter count example .

I did at one point have a Fuji S3 Pro that used Nikon F lenses and ran off AA batteries , which was handy .

That was quite a nice camera , nice ergonomics as well .

I sold it off when I had a clear out several years ago , kind of regret it though .
