Olympus EM10 MK-II LCD Screen Off Cause off EVF

Hi Guys,

I have some issue with my camera, the issue is my lcd screen off like when your eye or object near the evf sensor. At first the screen off when I tilt the LCD, now when I turn on the camera the screen became off. Now it got reverse, get back to on when I tilt a litte bit. Any idea what the cause is?

Or maybe I should go to service center?

Does it switch to the EVF when the screen turns off?

Could be some sort of eye-sensor failure. But first, check your EVF setting in the menu...

Push the button on the right of the EVF hump - if pressing that switches from screen to EVF and back, then you have perhaps Custom Menu - J (Built-in EVF) - EVF Auto Switch set to off?

Yes,it switch to the EVF

Already switch EVF auto mode to off, screen still off.
If its cause by eye-sensor failure, do I need replacement of the eye-sensor?

Not sure if it is worth the cost to fix it. I recently bought a new 10ii with kit lens for $300. I guess it would not hurt to ask.

Seems like a number of these are failing, with different symptoms. My old 10ii tends to favor the EVF, but I can still switch manually so that will work until it totally fails.

I have this problem too - the likely culprit is the ribbon cable connecting the display to the rest of the camera.

On mine, the touchscreen functions still work [like 'nose controlled' focus points] even with the screen dark. The screen does not light when flat, but will work at a few tilt angles.

When I checked the cost of repairs - I discovered that Olympus 'flat rate' repairs were priced higher than a refurb body [when the refurbs are available].

Since the camera is still mostly functional, I decided to live with it. I did do a substantial upgrade this year, adding a M1.2 body and and the 12-200 travel zoom lens.
