......Luminar AI will soon turn me into a photographic master. Master landscapes and portraits will make for a killer portfolio! Art directors will be beating a path to my door! I just have to get the software first before all the rest of you get it!!!

All my old mediocre photos will become masterpieces!

Hello Mr. Weegee...nothing ever comes in the way of basic good photography.

There are check systems available today that can scan for manipulated photos

that are flooding the internet, but why are you somewhat critical or upset ???

I started out in photography working in a photolab processing C-41 and E-6

film for some really top notch photographers, and believe me, they all had

expert pro air brushing at their disposal...but by no means are you a mediocre

photographer judging by your photographs I would say you have your own

unique style....stay cool and safe...

btw, are you related to the real Weegee, Arthur Fellig???

Greetings and may the light be with you...

Matthias

No they won't because AI will be creating computer generated photos for them.

We've come a long way baby, as the saying goes. I too went the E-3, E-4, E-6 route. And C-22 followed by C-41. And Cibachrome somewhere in there. All Kodak until Fuji started making better and more consistent films and papers. I miss some of that and yet I don't. Glad I went through the whole process. It is like first learning how to read notes before playing an instrument. Now it is more like playing music without knowing how to read notes. Although, technically, my photos are much better now...........

It takes a German, like yourself, to know who Arthur Felig was! No, I'm not a relative, but I do appreciate many of his photos and style of working. I hope I am keeping him alive!

Take care!

I am Unpacking all my cameras & lenses
4

I downloaded and installed trial version of Luminar 4 Ai, packed all my photography gear.
Launched  the software expecting it to self generate photos for me.
Wasted over 10 hours waiting for nothing,  what a bummer,
Will uninstall the Liminar Ai and make photos the old fashion way - - - using my camera.

All these people slagging off AI photo editing software makes me laugh. Technology is forever changing and it is in everything and is designed to make some tasks easier and quicker, what's wrong with that. Film photography is not the Holy Grail of photography, doing it the old fashioned way does not make you a better photographer. Processing film with chemicals was still manipulating an image and lots of things can be done using masks and an enlarger. Photography is an art form just like painting, capturing a good composition using ANY camera is the most important aspect in my view, how you then manipulate that image afterwards, is purely artistic licence and whether you leave it as a straight out of camera image (which incidentally is still a processed image) or use a image editor to change or enhance that image, is not cheating or less professional if the end result is a image that you are proud of.

Plan the shoot. Shoot the plan.

Have a concept, and don't lose sight of that concept no matter how many shiny objects catch your attention.

Unless it's aliens landing. Or the second coming of one of the major figures from the world's various religions. Or Scar Jo. We stop everything for her.

Lol! Nothing, not even Scar Jo can save my shots. I am a mediocre photographer who takes the occasional good photo.
