One of the rarest birds of North America

I'm not really a bird photographer but when my park ranger daughter mentions how rare the Island Scrub Jay is I have to take a few shots at it while hiking o Santa Cruz Island, part of the Channel Islands National Park. Couldn't get a flight pic which I'm bummed about, it was such a beautiful vivid blue.

You did get some very good shots.  A BIF shot would have been like the cherry on top.

My policy is to get the shot I can first then work on getting better.  I normally take at least three shots and some times many more.

Great shots and interesting narrative.  Any shot of a rarity is a good shot

The second is excellent and much more detailed than the first.  Great that you got to see and photograph this bird
