Re: New camera, or a new lens? Help...

Well, it looks like you are absolutely satisfied with your current body (K-50) when you use one of the best Pentax lenses, DA35/2.8 Ltd. So, you don't need another body, you need another such a good lens. And here is the problem. There are no cheap zoom lenses with, at least close (in any case the same) IQ. The closest might be DA 20-40, but it is the most expensive. So, you might better look for additional, non expensive fixed point lenses. One of them is DA50/1.8. But to go below 35mm, there are not so many options. There is still one pretty good (I have it) zoom lens, which can be found cheap (as used of course). It is DA16-45/4. That would be my recommendation.

The KP will be a big step up for sure

You may also consider the 20-40. Not quite the range, but IQ will be miles apart.

If your subjects won't stay still or if you shoot indooors a lot, I think the KP will make a bigger difference.

Also the camera will have a greater effevt on how pleasurable it is to take pics, it is a more refined, higher tech, newer camera..

55mm is not very long... a tele lens like the 55-300 might change the way you see things.

It's black Friday today, get the KP and 55-300 plm, and you'll get great action shots of the family. You can sell / hand down the K50 later.
