new m6ii, new to dpp and focus stacking
10

Hi

Canons double cashback temped me into trading in my m100 and getting an M6ii.

One of the reasons was focus stacking and I'm pretty happy with my 1st attempt  - despite the capture conditions being rushed and awful lighting, and never having used DPP before 20 images were blended into the following.

1st of many I hope

Some kind of Helibore

That is a very nice result! Interesting how the tentacles come from of the center and bend outward.

Which lens is this?

I like that Canon continues to invest in DPP, and coordinates with the firmware features like Focus Stacking.  I do hope they add this feature to more existing cameras (even the 1D line).  I think DPP really produces the best image results for Canon RAW editing.

Thanks

Its taken with the efs60 macro, and I think the series were taken at f4 (I was only playing after all)

I’ve now downloaded the manuals for the camera and DPP so who knows what is possible agree reading these

Re: new m6ii, new to dpp and focus stacking

So pleased to have seen this posting from you Jim. I updated DPP and went for an experimental indoor shoot. The results seem good to my tired old eyes. It looks like I can comfortably part company with the free but capable ‘CombineZP’ software.

Canon M6MkII kitted with the 18-150: Focus stacking courtesy of the feature in Canon’s software DPP - latest version 4.13.10.0, under the heading ‘Tools’ >> ‘Depth Compositing’ >> ‘Start Depth Compositing Tool’. Navigate to the relevant images >> Browse to where you wish to save the end results >> Click ‘Execute’.

Because Exif data is lost on stack processing, here is an explanation for each.

Image 1: 1/100: f/5.0: ISO 200

Image 2: 0.13: f/16.0: ISO 200

Image 3: A standard single exposure on the first image at f16 to view the fall off in focus sharpness on the furthest DVD.

Stay safe

Keith

Good start Keith, strangely three of those dvds popped up on Netflix tonight... I knew it offers suggestions but I didn’t know it culled that list from your stacks
