Epson head cleaning?

So, I have an Epson Photo R2400 which works well but can go for ages between print runs. Is switching on/off good enough to keep the heads clean? Or do I need to nozzle check or do a colour print? Thanks for any suggestions.

you need to do an intermittent nozzle check or some other print that exercises all the colors but doesn't waste too much ink.

Just sitting in 'storage' or not used is great way to kill the print head as the ink dries out and clogs the system.  Pigment printers are worse in this respect than dye printers.

Thanks for the reply. It seems just switching on and off again performs a mini head clean, or switching on holding power and paper buttons with a sheet of paper in does a nozzle check.
