Amazing! I did not know about this "Atlantic wall". I thought the Atlantic Wall was something the Nazis built along the mainland coast. So, I had to google it. And yes, the Atlantic wall was a defense wall against invasion, and it was actually also built in Norway and Denmark, that were occupied.

This wall in Surrey was, as far as I could find out, a training wall. For the allies to train how to overtake the Nazi wall e.g. in Germany or France. And it is only 100 meter long.

I do not know if building this wall was brilliant or just weird. If it really helped to win the war. But, a piece of history it is, nevertheless.

Hi Roland

Yes it was built in 1943 by Canadian troops. Made of steel reinforced concrete. The purpose was to test what explosives would be needed to breach the ones in France. There are two big holes blasted through it, so I guess it served its purpose.
