Will the X-E4 have IBIS?

A simple yes or no. Obviously a guess or a bet, since none of us actually know at this point.

Yes. (The technology has shrunk substantially - it can shrink again, or fit in as is with minimal effect on body size / It's Fuji's new thing and they'll put in anything they can / It's the main reason they're updating the line / etc)

No. (It can't fit, even if the X-S10's core body is barely any bigger / It's not worth the price to add it to this lower end camera / It's a gimmicky feature that goes against the ethos of this line / etc)

I would say yes, but assuming that the body would be slighty bigger than the X-E3, and this might turn out to be an advantage.

I don't think it'll have IBIS. From a technical point of view it's probably possible although I doubt Fuji will put IBIS in the X-E4, it'll go against the 'minimalist' philosophy the X-E3 offered.

In current  mirrorless market, there is no room for a non-IBIS camera.

Agreed. Not having IBIS will lessen the # of sales. Even my iPhone has stabilization.

My gut says no, simply because of how the X-S1 is set up.

They added a big grip that could hold the battery, likely to make space for the IBIS and cooling necessary.

Now my hope is that they'll keep any video features to an absolute minimum on the X-E4 and make it happen that way, though it's not likely.

No.

Not before the X-Pro4 and X100VI at least.

If you notice the S10 - the battery is in the large grip.  I suspect that the need for the grip is so they could free up the space for the IBIS unit.  I sure don't see the X-E series being the X-E series with such a grip.

So I would say no.

IS and an articulated screen like the one x100v has would make xe4 a great selling product as long as size and weight does not increase more than 50g and price is kept under USD/EUR 1000.

I agree that the X-E4 would look odd with a large grip and it’s unlikely to get IBIS anyway. At the same time, Fuji has invested a lot of R&D time to figure out how to miniaturise IBIS and make it so effective. So they will be wanting to maximise their returns on it.
I can live without a flip screen, but an X-E4 with IBIS and a slightly better EVF + eyecup, would be an instant hit with me, even if it meant a slight increase in size.

Agree. Technical is possible but market segmentation ....

If X-E4 has IBIS, X-S10 selling will drop very fast.

Other possiblity (but Fujiflm didn't do): X100V with lens IS.

I think it has becoming an expectation that all cameras have some form of image stabilization. Plus, a minimalist camera can have image stabilization. Ricoh GRIII, right?

Agree that all mid-range / high-end camera except (price like Canon M50 now) should has image stabilization, dual card slot and simple WR (not IP rating).

Above item is not any technical issue (especially dual card slot & WR is simple tech and low cost) but just camera maker marketing segmentation.

IMO dual card slot more important than HDMI slot in camera.

For WR (not IP rating and without any guarantee) in camera body, it just few simple rubber sealing. I still remember OnePlus 6 (phone) provide water-resistant in low price (because not IP67).

But the X-S10 was released before the X-Pro4 and X100VI ????   And that IBIS is quite a game changer. I have an X100V and now a brand new X-S10. I do a lot of night street photography and its going to be very tempting to take the X-S10 with me over the X100V, given that I can shoot at 1/15th sec. with complete confidence.

It effectively means that as long as I don't have a moving subject, I can set my X-S10 to ISO 1600 instead of ISO6400 (X-100V) and take advantage of the significant difference in IQ.

You guys are probably right and the X-E4 is unlikely to have IBIS before some of the more upmarket models get fitted with it, but you never know. The Fuji roadmap isn't always logical in that way.

Plus a larger EVF with a more comfortable eyecup. 😉

IBIS would be NICE (but) realistically NO in that Tiny SIZE
2

I want IBIS, I want an updated Fuji X-E3 (but)

  • given the SIZE restrain of the E3 body
  • given that Tiny Size = the appeal of the E3 range finder
  • I don't realistically, think we'll get an IBIS.
  • I hope I'm wrong, but its already looking like a very TIGHT squeeze

Even @the reduce IBIS unit size of X-S10 is quite THICK. cramping that into a tiny E3 body maybe asking for trouble. An undesirable compromised must be make:

  • Either by Making the X-E4 SIZE BIGGER & THICKER
  • thus reduce the appeal of E series (why buy one if its THICK?)
  • or take out the IBIS and remain small.
  • Choose your Poison

Another problem is HEAT!  Cramping a constantly moving IBIS unit into a tight cramp space will generate a lot of heat.  It'll even limit the 1080p video ability, 4K maybe in the range of 10~15min as well.  Just a thought to consider.

Lastly, @what price are you willing to pay for E4?

  • are you willing to pay the same $999?
  • because cramping an IBIS will add cost, & price it similar to X-S10!
