MINOLTA XG-M PROBLEM

I have inherited a Minolta XG-M but the exposure compensation dial will not move despite me trying to press the small black button. New batteries have been inserted but not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Also occasionally the film lever will not retract back when pushed and I have to use a coin to twist the film lever screw on the base plate which clicks it back in to place.

Thanks.

The exposure compensation dial setting is mechanical so it should move regardless if the batteries are there or not.

Given the problem with the film lever too I suspect that your camera is rusting.

Possibly 30 or 40 years of dirt jamming things up ?

.

Possibly squirt some electrical contact cleaner into the problem areas and work it to see if it frees things up by moving the muck out .

Several squirts and moving it will be required .

.

Worth a try to D.I.Y fix it , as a professional CLA would cost more than the cameras worth .
