Ghosting and flare

I am hoping someone can help me here. How does the olympus 14-150mm compare with the panasonic 14-140mm in terms of flare and ghosting? I love the small size and weight and decent results of the latter but I am increasingly sick of trying to deal with the flare in bright Australian conditions. The 12-60mm seems hugely better than the 14-140mm in this regard. .but I really appreciate the extra reach in a carry round and take on holidays camera. I believe the olympus is not as sharp. But I would now be prepared to lose a bit of sharpness in a carry around lens for reduced flare.

Re: Ghosting and flare

14-140 f/3.5-5.6 (not the WR mk-II version) is the principle lens of my wife (she hates to swap lenses) in last 7 years. It had been used on GF3, GX1, GX7 and now on GX85. I have an ultra thin UV filter as a protector on such lens.

So far I rarely notice any ghosting or flare from this lens that will worry me. Have just gone through around 7K shots (most were SOOC jpg or just after minor touching) from her latest travelling album on my computer, fail to find one has ghosting/flare issue.

I wish the following 2 (nothing to write home about them) might tell the flare resistance of this lens (usually by the live view we can avoid flare). Both were SOOC jpg and were in backlit condition:

The following was shot facing sun which at a low angle on a very warm morning of early 30℃ :

The following was taken on a hot morning, sun in front of the camera at a higher angle at around mid 30℃:

While some members do not rate this lens high, IMHO on the short end my copy is as good as 12-35 f/2.8 and 14-45 f/3.5-5.6. It should be marginally better than 12-32 f/3.5-5.6 and 14-42PZ f/3.5-5.6. On the long end, it is more than marginally better than 45-150 f/4-5.6 and is definitely ahead of 45-200 f/4-5.6.

If this is a 12-120 or 12-140, I shall get one to replace my current set up (12-35 f/2.8 & 45-150 f/4-5.6). 12-60 is still too short to be an all-in-one lens to me.
