Trump Crazies in the Neighborhood

I have some very over zealous Trumpites in my neighborhood,  Below are a few examples of the craziness.  It looks like they are in for a little disappointment.  Snaps made with the DP1 Merrill and poorly focused ;(

Cheers,

Cheers,

Well, everyone has the right to display their candidate of choice. And I sincerely searched every day for the last two months for the same kind of display for Biden. I never found hardly anything except maybe 2 signs and a banner on a garage once. So little displayed for Biden I was worried he wouldn't win. trump tried to win with violence and intimidation that is still ongoing. Biden just let him hang himself.

Good thing they didn't see you taking pictures. One thing regretful by kicking trump out is after a couple of weeks the presidency will be boring as hell. Which will be greatly welcomed actually.

Now we can all go back to acting respectfully to one another and wear masks and beat covid.

Stay safe.

Nope.

I hope the admin will nuke or lock this thread asap.

Let's keep politics and TDS in particular out of the forum, shall we. Plenty of other places for all that elsewhere. With or without photos. Taken with any camera.

Respectfully disagree, good photography can be thought provoking, this is an important moment in our history and as long as we can discuss respectfully  and maturely it should stay, we shouldn't be calling for censoring.

Me too.

I come here for Sigma equipment questions, not for politics, especially when it's expressed in a useless provocative way.

On a photographic level, one could say however that these photos show the typical yellow-green tint of Sigma files when they are not well processed.

But at least, those pics are not, as usual, oversharpened.

Just asking, but calling someone "Crazies" is respectful and mature?

But I agree with you, censoring like Twitter or Facebook is not a good thing, better simply locking a political discussion which has no place in a PHOTOGRAPHY forum.

I understand that, in all fairness he didn't called them "crazies" , he mentions the craziness of their rather large collection of signs that are probably an eyesore in his neighborhood.

Nope.  That’s Bozo winning his seat at the last general election. He was up against some stiff opposition. Sadly, the Raving Loony Monster Party didn’t field a candidate.

The election for each seat in the House of Commons is a local election. Naturally if a candidate happens to be the leader of a party, jokers are likely to stand against him.

There isn't a general election for Prime Minister in Britain. The House of Commons acts as an electoral college. It works but we don't have enough checks and balances -- I like the US system of limiting the President's power to Foreign Policy and the Military, so that any domestic policy he wants to bring in can only be done by persuading members of Congress. Lyndon Johnson was good at persuading, I believe.

As for the photos, I don't see why people shouldn't put up flags and poster to support their favourite politicians or football teams, if they want to. Enthusiasm isn't insanity.

Oh bølløcks please.
This has nothing to do with censorship, and the OP has nothing to do with photography or Sigma cameras. People can see right through your sanctimoniously smug excuse.

Sorry if I sound blunt but there's nothing to discuss about those particular shots. They're clearly mere snapshots of some political yard signs with no photographic merit of any kind. There's no attempt to any meaningful composition or even visually interesting angles or lighting, let alone to highlight the particular merits of the camera.

The yellow cast in two of the shots has been completely ignored, as the headline of the OP is telling what the post is really all about. Which was also quite clearly highlighted in the header of the OP. The camera is completely irrelevant here, it's all about the 'crazies' next door.

I'm not the admin but I do think politics and TDS do not belong to the Sigma Camera Talk. There is no shortage of other online venues to discuss politics and the US election circus all over the internyet, and there's no shortage of TDS and people pointing fingers at the "crazies" on each side.

There's already some TDS-infected commentary in the thread. For example, "trump tried to win with violence and intimidation that is still ongoing" is just an underinformed opinion that has nothing whatsoever to do with Sigma gear, lenses or photography, and it will lead to nothing constructive. It may be a valid opinion for some other thread in another forum for sure, but not this one.

Besides, the DPR forum has a global audience, and therefore to quite a few of them it's not about any significant "moment in our history." It's just an annoying and needlessly polarising distraction. Whichever side you're rooting/betting for. Quite a few of them neither hate or love Trump. Or Biden ftm. Nonetheless most of them don't want to endure that 'moment in history' in a photo/video forum of all places.

In short, there's nothing else to see here .
Let's just respectfully nuke or lock this thread and move on, shall we.

Cheers,

What's with the skeletons in the third photo?

I like seeing photos from other countries, particularly, daily life type photos, so, to me these are interesting as they tell a story.

I've travelled a lot in the USA for work and find my Ricoh GR is the perfect camera to get snapshots of life.  Instant focus, stabilisation and near zero buffering.  I think you did well with the Merrill.

Don Cox

My understanding of American political culture (admittedly, entirely from TV) is that there is a lot of razzmatazz associated with it and overt flag waving and public cheer leading and celebrating - much more than there is here in the UK.  The US president kind of combines the roles of the UK Prime Minister and the Monarch.  And there is plenty of flag waving and razzamatazz around Royalty over here (for reasons that entirely elude me. I can't really imagine why people stand in the cold at the side of the road for hours to watch the Queen's limo drive past for a split second).

It would be interesting for those of us furriners to know whether the photos at the top of this thread are par for the course or something radical.
