Panasonic and macro photography

Hi, I have the Panasonic G7 and Leica Macro 1:2 lens. I like to shoot a lot of macro photos of beetles and although this set up is usually ok for largish beetles I cannot get shots of very small ones. Is there a solution to this? I've tried all kinds of different things.  I also have the Sony A6000 with 3.5/30 Macro lens but have the same problem with that and I prefer my Panasonic anyway.

Hi, I used to have a G7 now have a G9.  For both, I have macro rings (which do pass electrical contacts through, make sure).  They are relatively inexpensive.  Put a 16mm macro ring behind the 42.5mm lens and you can get near 1:1.  Put a 10mm macro ring behind the 15mm lens and 1) you will focus VERY close  and 2) you will likely get beyond 1:1.    I recommend macro rings because they are really inexpensive, compared to anything else you might buy for your hobby.  I have Meike "Automatic Extension Tube Set" MK-P-AF3B, "For Panasonic micro DSLR".   We'll forgive them for calling our cameras DSLRs!

If ever you want to try some extension tubes, here is an article that might be interesting for you:

The article is in French but use the Google translation applet located at the top right corner of the screen to get a rough on-the-fly translation.

Re: Panasonic and macro photography

There should be a 100mm Macro lens coming out in the near future. It's on the Olympus road map and hopefully it's compatible with their macro flash.
