This month with your Nikon 1 - November 2020

Welcome to another monthly thread. Feel free to share your work either here or through individual threads on the forum, whatever you are more comfortable with.

The rules are simple:

  • Add your contribution by responding to this first message in this topic.
  • Change the subject of your message, then embed your image into the reply with whatever you’d like to say about it.
  • If you want criticism/critique (C&C) or technique feedback, say so. It’s generally assumed that you want general feedback, but direct requests make it clearer.

The title of the thread shouldn't discourage you from posting older pictures. Feel free to post anything that you found again in your archives or that you are currently working on.

Revisiting old stuff with DxO PL4

I upgraded my copy of DxO PhotoLab3 to PL4, with its "Deep Prime" Noise reduction  engine, for 70 euros, which is a fair price.

I'm revisiting old high iso pictures, and I'm impressed by the results. Prime was already very good. But Deep Prime is better. Like Prime, it works only with raw files. Not a concern for me, since I always keep my original raw files.

It's not the only improvement of the software. Automatic perpective correction is very handy, and saves a lot of time.

Some samples, from a short trip to Italy. I've already posted some pictures from that trip, but AFAIR, not the following.

Well, only religious images, albeit I'm not religious at all. But it doesn't matter. What matters is the beauty.

Beautiful images Andre’ ! Like them all. The DXO deep prime software seems worth of an investment indeed;) I still have the DXO free version that was available few years ago’;)...

Here's a few snapshots of my Beagles with my J5 and 18.5mm lens.

I just picked up the new iPhone 12 a few days ago and wanted to compare it's output to the J5 to see if the cellphone has really caught up with even the lowly five year old 1" sensor. The answer is a definite no. Everytime I use this little camera I always feel like the IQ out of it was underrated when you factor in how tiny this camera really is.

Thank you, Gary and Marco. I love the J5 +6.7-13 combo. I'm tempted by a RX100 m7, for its versatility, but it's hard to give up on the J5 + 6.7-13....

Thanks André. I never get tired of witnessing this spectacle. It is one of the last burst of color before winter sets in.

I really like that, sharp, atmospheric, beautifully composed and exposed. Well done. I am very impressed with some of the images I have seen recently from the j5. Thanks for posting.

Yes it is

I took a few shots at the same scene with lowest possible ISO.

It turns out the 10-30PD has really usable stabilization up to 1/6s shutter speed and ISO1600 isn't that bad. It performs better than my larger sensor Olympus.
