Minolta AF 300mm f2.8 APO Tele VS High Speed version

Hi

I am about to buy Minolta AF 300mm f2.8 APO Tele lens, potentially from 1985. There's no "High Speed" engraved on the lens hood, so it's certainly not the later 80s HS version.

From speed and performance standpoint, is there a lot of difference between two lenses?

Cheers
Mohan

Read the user reviews on Dyxum for a couple of direct comparisons. The original version did not have the focus limiter buttons. But Minolta offered a factory upgrade to the earlier lens to HS when the HS version came out, apparently the only way to tell if this was actually done is to count the number of revolutions of the focus mechanism - good luck finding out the number of revolutions for each version these days. See the Wikipedia article for details of all the versions.
