Question about auto monitor/viewfinder setting on G9

I can't seem to get my G9 set to where the automatic lcd viewfinder/monitor switching works. At one time I had it where the LCD monitor was on and when you put your eye to the viewfinder, it automatically switched to viewfinder view.

Maybe I changed a setting? I can have one or the other functioning by pushing the Fn3 (LVF) button but there should be a setting to have the viewfinder automatically function when the eye triggers the eye sensor and then revert back to LCD display when the eye is away from the viewfinder, and that doesn't seem to be happening anymore.

What am I missing? I'm sure it's something simple.

Not happening for me. ?

I sometimes accidentally press the button and end up with viewfinder or screen only. Have you tried cycling through the three different settings?

I also notice that the eye sensor can get a little hyperactive sometimes, reacting to dust etc.

If you still have Fn3 assigned to the LVF switching function, there are three settings it cycles through each time its pressed: EVF only, LCD only, automatic switching. When this last one is selected, the words LVF/MON AUTO appear briefly in the top-left of the LCD display.

If it's still not switching when AUTO is selected, then there's an issue with the eye sensor. Perhaps it's got some dust covering it? Try cleaning it off with a soft brush.

Thanks guys. That's one thing nice about these forums - lots of knowledge and help available.

I got it sorted out. I think that's what I did - accidentally pressed the button when I didn't mean to.

I also didn't know about the three settings cycling through each time its pressed, so thanks for that info.

Just as a matter of interest, what I have done reprogramed  FB 3 to metering mode. I have set the Monitor /Evf via the menu to Auto switching mode. I find that works well for me .

Pretty much the same for me - Fn3 is remapped to metering mode, and by default the EVF/LCD switches automatically. However, I set the left hand quadrant of the 4-way pad to cycle the EVF/LCD options, as I do occasionally want to turn off the auto switching - like when I'm showing someone an image & don't want an accidental finger turning off the LCD because it gets too close to the sensor.
