One of the oldest threads on DPReview - and still going strong! Thank you for the record braking number of excellent posts in thread #380. As discussed, we are going to extend the Monochrome tread going forward and keep it running for the entire week - Friday to Friday. I'm also *very* encouraged by the amount of interactive comments picking up again lately. I'm certain we can keep this MC thread valuable for a lot of people going forward!

#512|MONOCHROME THREAD|POST YOURS| 23Oct2020-30Oct2020

The world always looks a little different in shades of grey- or of sepia, or of platinum, or of...Post one monochrome or more, taken any time, of any subject and processed any way you like.

If you like Monochrome please leave one or two others a comment as it is always interesting to know how you feel, see or experience images of others. This is a friendly request, not a rule.

*So...................*How does the world look to you?*

Ralf

*Please post your picture(s) as a response to the first opening post and change the title according your subject to make your contribution personal!

My closest Kestrel shot
1

Here's my entry

I got this shot in Britanny, France.

Noticed this kestrel at the other end of a field. Behind was a corn patch. I took some pictures from afar as a "safety net", and then proceeded to enter the corn patch to get closer. I Only moved when the wind was blowing to cover for my noise, and managed to get very close to the bird (5-10 meters, 16-32 feet). Grabbed some shots from a veggie window, and went beck where I came from, without having the bird fly away.

It was a magical moment!

Nice PP. Nice atmosphere...

Love the trunk in the foreground. Gives a great 3D feel to the pic. Well done!

On the road again...
2

Yesterday, on my way to document a temple, roads and tracks crossed through paddies. The sky was so beautiful I couldn't resist to stop and shot some unexpected snaps...

Charcoal-style processed afterwards for fun

Thanks for looking...

And thanks for showing us these stunning photos! To my mind they are what monochrome should be.

It was quite loud, but not eardrum shattering. Also there are two drummers. If you click the photo it will open in gallery view and you can enlarge it. There you'll see a second drummer on the opposite (back) side of the drum.

That was a taiko performance at a local community college about 25 to 30 years ago. Going through my slides, b&w and color negatives and scanning to archive the 'better' captures.
