I bought this lens in favour of the 18-135 as I wanted something faster for low light stuff and maybe the odd wedding. I was a bit sceptical at first but the IQ is definitely on a par with the 18-135 imho and I also now have the underrated 55-200 which is another stellar lens - but that's for another review. Both will be used as my wedding kit as I'm happy with the IQ from both. Before I get shot down in flames about the staple 24-70 & 70-200 F/2.8 lenses, I know of a wedding tog who had a successful wedding/portrait photography business and he used a Canon 50D and Sigma 18-200 and nothing else and had lots of work which just proves, it's not what you've got but how you use it! But to quell some fears, I do have the just released Fuji 50mm F/1.0 for my portrait work- again for another review. But I digress, to summarise, the 18-55 is, to me anyway, another underrated lens and the images I've taken with it so far are very sharp and the colour redition is exactly what I expect of Fujifilm - top drawer!

Agreed. 18-55/55-200 is an absolutely brilliant combination. I personally prefer primes but used to own the 55-200 and it was fantastic. It is one of the best fuji combinations i think for general photography.

That combination is even on bhphotovideo's list of Fuji Wedding lenses and that doesn't surprise me. At the moment, with the wedding business being really quiet, I can't justify keeping a 16-55/55-140 combo just sitting in my bag so for now, it's the 18-55/55-200 for me until things turn around (if they ever do). Plus the latter are a lot lighter to carry round! That combo also gets the thumbs up in a Fujifilm group I'm in on Facebook from other Wedding Togs. I do have, as I said a 50mm F/1 for portrait work and I have taken that out on the streets.
