Galaxy s20 + (vs) Galaxy s20 Note Ultra

I am going to get one of these for upgrade from s8.  From all the experts here is the extra bucks worth getting the Note.  It will mainly be used for kids, pets, family, nature/scenic photos.  I am buying monthly payments.  45.00 vs 54.00 a month is the camera on the Note worth the extra cash.

I got an S20+ as an "upgrade" from my trusted Galaxy S8. Sent the S20+ back after a week, pictures are terrible, worse than S8.

I was astonished and disappointed in equal measure - smearing of detail, unable to deal with red flowers, absolute joke of a zoom effect. Just awful.

Good luck!

Kind regards

Edward

Re: Galaxy s20 + (vs) Galaxy s20 Note Ultra

I bought a Note 20 Ultra as an upgrade to my Note 8 and love having the wider view (on one end) and the longer telephoto (on the other). Under most conditions, the new Note takes better photos than my old one.

Is it worth getting the Note over the S? Well, the camera is improved a little at the long end, but the main difference is the stylus. I use the stylus quite a lot, and have since my Note 3. On the new Note, the stylus also works as a remote trigger. But if you don't use the stylus then it may not be worth the extra cost.

Hmm. Thank you for pointing it out. I've made a couple of photos on my friend's S20+ and liked them. Was going to by one myself. I'll ask him to test it more closely.

Sincerely
Steven

Re: Galaxy s20 + (vs) Galaxy s20 Note Ultra

I upgraded from a Note 8 to a Note 20 5G, which is closer to a S20+ (same cameras) but with a stylus and a flat screen (not a big fan of the curved screen of Note 20 Ultra). It doesn't support SD cards (unlike both S20+ and Note 20 Ultra) but my model has 256GB storage.

In RAW there's a visible, but not dramatic improvement from the Note 8.

There's a 64mp mode, which like the 108mp mode of the Ultra is only available in JPEG and which is arguably the best mode in daylight, but falls apart indoors. I rarely use ultra wide or tele cameras, but both are fine for a phone. Night mode can be impressive when it suits the scene.
