Haven't been here in a very long time
2

Due to health issues, my Photography has taken a severe hit. I am so pleased to see this forum is still active, cranking out some beautiful shots. I spent many years here in this forum enjoying very active participation overloading the forum's thread post number limit on many topics. Not sure if that limit is still active at 150 post or not.

Happy to see this forum is still active.

Good to see you back. I pop in occasionally. I agree it’s great to see Minoltas still in use and producing fantastic images.

Glad you're back.

Probably been a while since any thread here hit the limit... Happens pretty often on the E mount fora these days, though. Usually with quite a bit of acrimony in the thread.

Out of curiosity, how would you compare your A700 to KM7D?

I received the 7D in the first month of their 2 year overdue launch. I still use that camera on occasion. The colors ( Minolta colors are not hype or urban legend. By todays standards, the 7D is a dinosaur. Its still fun to shoot, but its output is still breathtaking.

The A700 was a step up in functionality and speed. but it never had those Minolta colors.. even with Post process workflow attempting to emulate Minolta colors.. It never actually did it. At least not in my eye.

MyA77 was a much bigger step up over the A700 then the A700 was over the KM 7D. Minolta was always an Ergonomic camera platform.. Sony continued that ergonomic concept, which was one of the reasons I stayed with the A mount when Sony took over.

I hope this helps.. you can find individual reviews from each of these cameras and their features in this forum.

If I want to have a breathtaking photo event, Ill grab the KM 7D. for a day.. Ive been a Photographer for over 60 years. I use the term Photographer very loosely. I'm much more about capturing the memory then I am about photographic excellence. Im much more about having fun, then I am at working at it . Over the years I have learned what works for me. Its the gunner and not the gun, but some guns do shoot tighter groups.

I´m also glad that You let us know that You are ok. I was wondering just the other day.

My 7D has not been well. I tried to revive it last week. Can´t set date and time and most photos will be first frame black. Managed to take two photos to be able to try out a HDR.

Best wishes.

Those cameras were/are very special. Its panful to have one give out. I can feel your pain and dread the day mine will die.

Yes, I recently looked at a lot of my old photos at https://pbase.com/michael_nilsson and there is something special about the colours of the Minolta.

Those colors are absolutely breathtaking.. The difference is slight but when you go from a true Minolta Camera and lens to something else, it seems different enough to notice.. its that slight 1 or 2 % extra pop in the greens and reds that appeal to my eye.
