X-T4 Sensor Dust?

I've been shooting with an X-T4 now for a few months and am finding that it is a magnet for sensor dust. I'm extremely careful about changing lenses, i.e., keeping the body face down, not changing in the wind or obvious sources of dust, etc. But this sensor seems to attract dust like no other camera I've ever owned. I've shot with Canon, Olympus and have an X-H1. None of those cameras have the problem. IBIS static build-up? Anyone else have this problem?

Yes, mine is also a dust magnet.  Since July, I have already done two cleanings.

Interesting - I wonder why this would be and/or if other XT-4 users are experiencing the same thing?

I've been shooting extensively with my three lovely old XT-1's for some years now with no issues ever.

Both my brand new unopened X-T3's came with dust on the sensor straight out of the box.

I own a XH1 (IBIS) and a XT3 (same sensor XT4) and I have no such issues, after many 10000s shots with each camera

Some dust particles can be easily removed using a Hurricane Blower

Important enable sensor cleaning when switching ON and OFF

After each lens change enable sensor cleaning once vertical once horizontal position of the body

In my experience it's about once incident where a bunch of dust gets in.  Once this happens you can clean and clean and you still get dust on the sensor.  I own two X-T3 and one has needed regular cleanings, about every month or two.  The other which is a six months old has never needed a cleaning.  Blow the camera out good.  Operate the shutter with no lens and the setting for take photo for no lens enabled.  Do this with the camera facing down a few times.  Blow it out again.  Repeat.  Also, do you have clean sensor when turning on and also turning off enabled?

It will get better in time,

Morris

Dust particles come in different sizes and affected by atmospheric conditions like sudden change in temperate like all electronics. My X-T2 / X-T3 do not suffer any such visible dust although I never change lenses. 16mm f1,4 on X-T2 and 50mm F2 on my X-T3. Daresay if cameras opened for inspection probably some dust might be there but not yet a problem. Sensor cleaning should usually address this problem?

Good to know. I had the A73 and it was a dust magnet. More like a vacuum. My Canon RP and R had much less with longer usage.

I did wonder if X-T4 has dust issue as this is rarely reported by youtubers under reviews.

In general if I have to swap lenses in the field I turn the camera off. Remove the battery. Turn the camera on drain any electricity built on the sensor. Aim the body downwards and swap lens quickly. Also all my rear mount lens caps have sticky 2 sided 3m tape so if any dust us in the lens it will fall and stick to the 3m tape when stored.

No issues so far with my X-T4 and X-T3 (same sensor) - and I change lenses quite often

Re: X-T4 Sensor Dust?

This is a massive problem for me. It's incredibly frustrating having come from 12 years shooting canon with minimal dust issues over that time.
