Canon RP in an abandoned factory - SOOC jpegs

Took some pictures in an empty factory with a rented Canon RP and the handy RF 35mm f/1.8 Macro lens.

Enjoy!

Hmm, lots of over exposure with this limited DR sensor. Technically the IQ could be better.

I guess this remark is only about the last photo in the series? That one indeed has too much over exposed parts and probably could benefit from the RP's HDR feature, or the manual equivalent using a bracketed sequence.

BTW: I don't think any sensor will be able to capture the full dynamic range of this scene. Some will of course do better, but not by more than a few stops.

It's in Hungary. Regarding the name on the front it was a glass factory for industrial applications.

You cannot get in easily, as it's locked down, but there is a hole in the fence, as a homeless guy is living in one of the buildings. And, of course, those who created the graffitis should have got there somehow (it was hardly legal). 🤫

I'm wondering if I should go back with a zoom later. This Canon RP was rented only for that day, and was just the 35mm Macro with me.

Don't worry about the blown out highlights.  This isn't a fashion or portrait shoot.  Environmental photography can have plenty of blown out highlights.  As long as they connect the photo to mood you want, don't worry about it.  Plenty of great photos have blown out highlights; as long as there is a strong, well defined and identifiable subject, it's fine.  The technique has to work with the subject, which, in these photos, it does.

I have the same camera and lens.  Love the 35mm 1.8 macro!!
