I feel your pain. Some manufacturers are playing a wicked game with us.

Not having a flash synch contact is akin to a camera without a tripod thread.
Both are standard for 100+ years of photography.

Not including these is like selling a car without a rear window; but a hole instead, where you can insert an "add on" piece of glass at extra cost.

actually, NO. Hot shoes as we know them today are a 1970s innovation, and took a long time to "standardize". Before that, dating to the 1950s, we had PC Connectors. Before that, I have no idea.

So we've had at least three iterations in the past 100 years.

You really should do your homework before making such misleading, inflammatory posts.

Some people just don't like change, I guess. But here, it's hard to understand given the easy solution.

Cameras at least from the late 1940s / early 1950s had a cold shoe ( e.g. https://www.kenrockwell.com/kodak/retina-1a.htm ) and used a cable to the PC socket ( these were used for rangefinders and viewfinders too)

So what? We've been talking about hot shoes here, in case you didn't notice! And, until

yes, I’m aware of that

the PC connector, the connectors from flash to camera were not standardised like we think of today. And you don't need to go back that far to where there was no flash synch at all. Instead, there were add ons that triggered the shutter when you pushed a button on the flash!

Finally, do you mind showing me where the PC terminal is on the camera you linked to? Can't see it, probably because it doesn't have it, since it was launched before PC terminals became common. Just having x-synch doesn't mean that much.

The PC socket is under the lens by the front panel

You have one?  Can't see it in the picture, but it would make sense that Kodak would include it early on.  After all, they were a leader back then!

Wrong forum

Wrong forum . You joined a few days ago, and you should post in the rebel forum. Canon makes low end flashes and has flashes at different prices.

Not very friendly, but correct.

Going to move this to the appropriate forum. Try to be more polite to n00bs, please.

Re: I hate Canon right now...

There are 3rd party Flash manufacturers that are making flash that are compatible with the 250D camera. Godox and Flashpoint and there are others.

Have you looked into buying a used canon flash? Found some online that are less than $100 (US)

Godox and Flashpoint and there are others.

A Canon 250D compatible Godox flash or transmitter will be compatible with non-crippled Canons as well. If that's what you meant.

Ok, didn't know that. How are the similar original Canon flashes?

IDK, but I assume all current Canon Speedlights are compatible. The problem with those is price.

So, bashing and using rediculous words is ok now? This thread has all the words needed to lock this or even erase it. Words like "urinating" are used. Mod read it and only moves it to the "appropiate" forum.

Why is this not locked?

You want a thread that has been dead for over two weeks locked?

Re: I hate Canon right now...

I haven’t followed this thread entirely but I just want to mention that a lot of manufacturers are pushing people to buy their products (lenses, flashes, accessories, etc.) rather than third parties.

I was in a phone conversation yesterday with a friend about about older third parties power supplies and newer iPhones and it was the same story. I even experienced it lately with a newer iPad that an older third party power supply was causing it to crash.

I also read something lately about older third parties lenses and newer Canon cameras compatibility issues.

Technology is moving so fast that even manufacturers are having a hard time keeping compatibility with their own past stuff.

At some point we’re expected to upgrade. No need to get angry about it. This is the new reality. In fact, I’m surprised that the EF mount is still around.

Hope this helps.

There is always something to shoot/snap, you just have to know how to do it and have the right gear.
