This G6 Wasn't Supposed To Work
4

A couple of years ago I bought a G6 Dental Kit that had the extension tube, a close-up lens and a specially made flash diffuser. That purchase didn't include the original lens ring. Since then I have been looking for (and not finding) one so I could remove the tube and make the camera a bit more compact.

Last week I was given a nice deal on a parts/not working camera that had a good undamaged ring. When I received it in the mail I discovered the camera also came with an OEM battery and a 1GB CF card! Being curious, I charged the battery, put it in the camera and it powered up perfectly. Everything works as it should except the Main Dial is a bit jumpy. No problem, the navigation arrows are fine. The body was a little dirty but the lens is perfect. When I took the camera out today for a test I was kind of hoping the sensor would be bad. It, too, is perfect!

So, I'm right back to still needing a lens ring.

Hey Wes,

First, beautiful images. Great composition!
I think you have a nice camera.

I'm not familiar with the G6. When you refer to the lens ring, are you referring to this:

https://www.amazon.com/Digital-Concepts-Adapter-Canon-Powershot/dp/B000H7K4DO

Or is it a ring adapter like a lens filter?
I hope you find the lens ring.

Thanks Photo'!

Yes, the lens ring comes off (just like the one on our A720 cameras) and the tube from your link goes on. I have the original Canon tube, which will only fit that camera. It takes 58mm filters, caps and lenses.
