Konica dimage all mine showing can't read card!

Hello. My first post on here. I started in the 1970s photography with a konica c35 and have recently bought someone's collection of dimage z series Bridge cameras. Z1 z2 z3 z5. The trouble is that non will work and all showing 'can't read card'. I've tried old cards, new cards, formatted cards the lot!. Getting to the point where they are going to the dustbin. Any help would be appreciated.

No experience of these but your cards might be too big or even, dare I say it, write protected.

Welcome to the forum .

What cards are you using ?

The fact that all the cameras are behaving the same way suggests it's not the cameras that are the problem .

I can't remember the maximum card size that can be used , but I think it's 4GB or less .

Possibly even 2 GB .

How have you formatted the cards , in camera or on a P.C ?

It needs to be in camera .

I have the same problem with a Z6.  I've tried cards from 2, 4, and 32 Ghz(none of them write protected) with the same results...the camera won't read the cards.  I can't find an answer either.

Hi,

not sure what file system those cams are using which may be related also to the largest readable/writeable card size. And your cards may be formatted in an another file system. Like fat16 vs. fat32.

You could try to format a card first in your computer and then format it in your cam.

I had a look in the specs and both the Z1 and Z5 came with "huge" 16MB SD card in box. So much larger, more modern SD cards might be indeed the problem. Perhaps you'll be able to find an older, mid sized card like 256MB. Possibly 1GB or 2BG are the top limit in that ancient file system.

Presumably you gave up trying to get it working as you haven't bothered replying ?

Unfortunately, that's not an uncommon trait amongst 1st time posters.
