Lumix G7 Too bright

I have a Lumix G7 which is great for what I use it for (I'm a very basic photographer). I tend to always have it on the auto focus Ai mode for photos.

However i have noticed that lots of times I use it (particularly indoors) the photos and video are very white looking. They look almost bleached. Is there a setting somewhere that can help to make the photos and video look a bit more in contrast or is it just a very bright camera?

Re: Lumix G7 Too bright

I used to have a G7 and did not experience this.  Are you using the auto everything mode, that sets ISO, shutter speed and aperture?  If so, you almost certainly could avoid this in P mode where you set an appropriate ISO to keep your shutter speed where you need it to be.  Do you have exposure compensation (+/-) set above 0?   If so, please set it back to 0.

I can't really think of anything more.  Can you please post a picture showing the issue?  We might be able to recognize something.

Use iA+ & EC

You might wish to use iA+ instead of iA as the following:

Check that metering is set to "multi metering" or "center weighed" instead of "spot". I have assigned the fn3 (down button) for changing the metering mode. It may be that the setting does nothing when using full automatic mode, though.

I strongly recommend spending an hour or two of learning what aperture, shutter speed and sensitivity (ISO) means and how they are related, as well as different focusing and metering modes. This will help understanding what are the possible reasons for the camera to fail.

Learning how the camera works is not obligatory, but it is a relatively easy way to take your photography to a next level. It's also a lot of fun testing different exposure parameter combinations when trying to perfect an image.

G7 is a great camera, after using G80, I am amazed how light it is.

Too bright

stay away from IA for a while, you figure some way to get an image try to see what you like on that dial.

IA tries to get things bright, but may blur out a subject.
