Re: Some selected by DP Merrill (1-2-3)

I like these, especially the first one with all the little tiny people.

The DP Merrills are wonderful cameras. I don't think you posted anything from a DP1M ?

Beautiful pictures.

You do a lot of exposure comp, and very successfully too.  How do you keep from blowing highlights?

I always take the three toys in my bag together on travel, and pick one up based on the scene arbitrarily. In recent years I find myself like to the mid-focus like 60-150 more and more than youth

Re: Some selected by DP Merrill (1-2-3)

Basically I'm used to set the +0.3/0.7 ev as default custom setting for dp series. But for scenery of hard light or strong contrast I will increase/decrease it violently based on live view on the LCD :D.

Re: Some selected by DP Merrill (1-2-3)

After uploading some photos yesterday by phone (mobile web), I found these photos looks like lossing their crispness. Can anybody tell me how can I upload the photos with original quality, or embedded external photos?

Some of my photos can be found at flickr: https://www.flickr.com/people/butfly/

Lovely work butfly.

I often take my DPMs - 2 and 3 - on walks. They keep my mind well focused and give me excellent results.

The versions in the threads are greatly compressed, but the "original size" versions are not so bad. I just upload the full size DP3M image, saved as a maximum quality JPG.

I downscale the images from the sdQH and the fp, so as not to overload everyone's bandwidth. This does lose some detail.

I also get good results from using 100% quality (least compression) but full chroma sub-sampling (4:2:0) ... (in FastStone Viewer - we can't separate compression and sub-sampling in SPP).

I downscale the images from the sdQH and the fp, so as not to overload everyone's bandwidth.

Good man ... at 75Kb/sec, I do appreciate that.

This does lose some detail.

For my pre-Merrill SD15 I leave images at 100% ( i.e. less than or equal to 2640x1760px).

Re: Some selected by DP Merrill (1-2-3)

So how can I upload photos to the dpreview without compressed by the website?

Shoukd I resize all photo to smaller than 2640x1760 before upload?

Can I embed some external images by url in thread of the dpreview forum?

I see that you downsized your picture of the sand dunes to 7 Megapixels. It looks sharp and detailed on my monitor. You might try, as a test, posting the same image at full size, to see if any more important detail can be seen.

The others have been reduced more, but as they are mostly fairly simple graphic images, where the composition is more important than very small detail, I think they work OK. But you could try posting a couple of larger versions.

++++++++++

Your logo (or seal) is interesting. What does it represent ?

The compression that Don referred to is only in the small post view, not the original size view. You can not control the post view - it is re-sized by DPR.

Should I resize all photo to smaller than 2640x1760 before upload?

No. You can use any size you want to. 2640x1760px is just the biggest image my Sigma camera can capture.

Can I embed some external images by url in thread of the dpreview forum?

Yes. Click on the 'Insert Image' icon and then select 'Insert image from web'.

looks like the below is not correct. in the top post of these thread i insert some Image from website and others from local, but they were compressed all, and i had checked the html code -- the dpreview insert Image from itself, not external.

Yes. Click on the 'Insert Image' icon and then select 'Insert image from web'.

looks like the below is not correct. in the top post of this thread i inserted some Images from a website and others from my computer, but they were all compressed, and i had checked the html code -- DPReview inserts Images from it's own Server, not external.

Yes. Click on the 'Insert Image' icon and then select 'Insert image from web'.

Please do not change the order of quotes by adding text above mine. For example, see that the above is out of sequence.

'insert image from web' places the image in the post view compressed or expanded as required.

From my website:

Click on 'original size' to see it full-size in a new window.

If you don't like that, you can just type the URL into your post:

http://kronometric.org/phot/sensor/fov/F7QEinclFilt.gif

Members will then have to click on it to see it.
