Quest for NX2000 Service Manual.
Sep 6, 2020
Well I finally killed my NX2000 by playing with the source code provided by Samsung.
I was really close to make some changes:
Make 1080p60 become selectable in the settings (normally only archivable by using telnet I guess?);
Change the dial from mode selector to aperture/shutter speed, that way it's much more useful than changing modes, afterall there is a home buttom with this same funtion;
Remove all of the bloatware installed in the camera, Youtube, Flickr, Picasa, even JPG only modes like starry skys and panoramic.
Things I was able to do so far:
Change the function of the dial, but was not able to make it change aperture/shutter speed as planned;
Film 1080p60 by using telnet and prefman set 0 at MOV_SIZE;
Remove some of the bloatware.
Things that I think that killed the firmware:
Bad editing di-camera-app-nx2000 code;
Bad upgrade from the v1.15 provided in the source code to v1.18 by running binwalk at the lastest nx2000.bin firmware and using it to compile a new firmware;
Well, now I have two dead cameras, a NX30 (bought dead already) and my NX2000.
I try'd everything, every search in google, Samsung support chat, J&J Chat...
Now I'm here.
I wish to bring back life for my NX2000, so please, if anyone have the Service Manual for it, or even a link of a place where I can purchase it as .pdf, share with me, please.
That would be great.
I already contacted samsungparts.com, they only send the file in a Thumbdrive, CD-ROM or Print pressed copy.
Its shipped from NY and I'm Brazilian, Shipping is way too high, even for a small thumbdrive (twice the value of the manual).
I don't live from it, I'm not a professional. Neither photographer nor Camera technician.
I work with Civil Engineering and like to do those things as a hobby.
Also, its my first time trying to "hack", mod a OS and codes.
I think I got pretty far even being a total newbie in the area.
All I wish is to continue developing things for my NX systems.
I will update everything in my github wiki if I get the camera going again..
Thanks !!!
